Chapter 3

I could feel my entire body breaking into a trembling fit. I couldn’t speak; I didn’t know how.
A wide set smile broke out on his face as he recognized my nervousness. It wasn’t teasing, rather comforting.
“I just wanted to introduce you two,” Nurse Martin explained as she realized I wouldn’t respond.
Anthony continued grinning at me. “Well, it was nice to meet you, Kaitlyn.”
I bobbed my head, knowing that I just made myself look like a complete and utter fool in front of a very attractive boy. “Y—you too,” I stammered, feeling my cheeks growing hot and I could tell I was getting red.
“Bye, Anthony,” Nurse Martin said, trying to make the moment slightly less awkward.
He bit his lip. “Bye, Nurse Martin.” He glanced at me. “Bye Kaitlyn.”
I couldn’t turn away fast enough. She followed close behind me. “I told you I couldn’t talk to guys,” I growled lowly after we were far enough away from Anthony so that he couldn’t hear us.
“Well,” she snorted, “I didn’t know it was that bad.”
We stopped in the hallway just outside the cafeteria. “Well, I mean, I just freeze up.”
“Really?” she mocked.
After we were halfway to my room, I realized my hands were empty. “Oh my god,” I sighed.
She creased her brow at me. “What?”
“I left my food in there.”
She grinned. “Okay, don’t have another panic attack, Kail. I’ll get it for you.”
“Thank you,” I sighed.
I entered my dark, one person room. I basically lived here, I never left it. The only people I ever talked to were my sister, my sister’s fiancée, and of course, Nurse Martin. They were the only people who really cared about me, my only friends.
There was a new message from my sister on my cell phone, so I decided to call her.
“Hello?”
“Hey.”
“Hey girl. What’s up?”
“Not much, besides this super cute boy who was just transferred here.”
“Super cute boy?” she teased. “What’s his name?”
“Anthony.”
“Sounds hot.”
“He is. But I totally embarrassed myself in front of him.”
“Kail, I need to tutor you in boys.”
“No kidding, Morgan. I don’t know how you do it.”
She sighed. “Hey, look, I hate to leave you after like 30 seconds but Aidan and I are in the middle of planning the wedding. I love you, okay? And Aidan does too.”
I felt my heart drop slightly. After a hesitation, I uttered, “I love you too, Morgan.”
“Have a good day, sweetie.”
The dial tone told me she hung up. I hated hanging up with her. She was my best friend. Ever since she and Aidan got engaged, I felt like I was losing her. I couldn’t complain about Aidan, though. He was like an older brother to me.
Nurse Martin brought my lunch back to me, but I’d lost my appetite. I stabbed the watermelon with the plastic fork, watching the juice seep from the pores.
I was so utterly embarrassed.
I threw my pillow over my face, caught somewhere between crying and screaming. I needed to take a walk.
I jumped up from my bed and threw the door open. I stormed down the corridor, not sure where I was heading.
Colliding with a tall, muscular body took me by surprise. I glanced up to perfect blue eyes.
“Hey,” he said with a goofy smile. “I was looking for you.”

This is so good! It's the fort story I've ever read on here and I am so glad I did. It's amazing. Don't ever stop!

Kay, so first off. You should write books. You're amazing. Second off, i love this story. It's so different then most things on Witty -- In a good way. I love it, i really do. You're a great writer and I hope you go far with your writing <3
