Seventeen-year-old Denni Rivers is from Colorado, which means she’s never been to a beach. When both of her parents die in a car accident, she’s shipped off to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina to live with her godmother, Palmer. Denni wants what any seventeen-year-old girl wants - to fit in. When a teenage boy moves into the house next-door, Denni finds someone who changes her life… for the summer at least. Preston White is an arrogant, rude, selfish, unfriendly teenager who does nothing for anyone but himself – until he meets sweet, caring Denni. When he uncovers Denni’s past and her new bucket list, he puts himself aside and tries to accomplish everything on the list before the summers over and he has to return home to Jersey.
