“It’s obvious you just made up that ending because Aimee told you not to scare me! I won’t get scared, Andreea. Tell me how it really ends!”

“That’s enough for tonight, Tess. Look! It’s getting dark; you better get your costume on!”

Tess walked up the creaky stairs reluctantly to get changed into her costume. When Tess had gone upstairs, Andreea and I discussed the Evil Ghost of Katherine Collins.

“I don’t want you telling my five-year-old sister how that story ends! She won’t even understand it!”

“I know but, it would be pretty cool seeing her terrified reaction!”

An ear-piercing scream came from upstairs in Tess’s bedroom. Andreea and I ran up to see what had happened.

“What is it, Tess?”

“Look!”

Scratched into the wall was a secret code:

“What does it say? It’s just a bunch of numbers!”

I began to scribble down some words on a piece of paper.
