When they arrived at camp they were greeted by the usual counselors, Sophie who was a peppy blonde 17 year-old told them she was there cabin leader and that she would take their stuff to the cabin so they could go talk to Don, the camp leader. This was unusual considering that the six years Melrose had been there they didn’t meet Don until opening night. Well when they got there they realized they weren’t alone, Matt, Darryl, Eddie, Jon, and another boy who she didn’t recognize were there also. Don was sitting on a chair smiling holding 9 scripts. “Hey, guys, I’m Don, I’ve been watching your plays for the last few years and I have to say I am very impressed by you guys’s work. You are all very talented kids. Well as you know, for the next 2 weeks we will be working on a play, and there are 9 ‘lead’ parts, just enough for you guys to fill, but I see that another girl is here well, um there is another part but it’s mostly dancing so I guess we’ll do dancing auditions too. Well, um, the play we are doing this year is Wicked! I’m so excited to tackle this challenge with you. Um, so we are going to be having closed auditions, one will do a scene with me while another does singing with Sophie and another does dancing with Alexa. So I’ll take Jon, Sophie you take Eddie, and Alexa you take Matt, we will do the boys first. Then after we will just rotate through. Then I’ll take Aaron, and Sophie will take Darryl. After rotating I’ll decide girl order.” She assumed that Aaron was the boy she didn’t know. After about an hour of auditions and listening to Rae warm up her voice it was time for her to audition she was going to Sophie first and then to Alexa for dance and finally to Don for acting. As she walked in Eddie gave her a thumbs up, he was really supportive of her.
