Pretend It's Love
~Prologue~
I stand in line at the coffee shops, scrolling down my Twitter feed. I start to hum to myself absentmindedly, completely bored. "God, could this go any slower?" I mumble under my breath. "Well maybe if that kid wasn't so full of himself and would just order already," My friend, Veronica giggles. "I hate guys like that, they think waaay too much of themselves," I roll my eyes. "He is kinda cute," She crinkles her nose. "Ugh, your taste in guys is terrible," I laugh. Finally, the guy is done ordering. I turn to whisper something to Veronica when something hot and sticky is poured all over my left leg. "What the hell?" I snap, turning around to see that the boy who had taken so long to order just pilled his drink all over my leg.
"You've got to be kidding me," I say angrily. 'Oh God, I'm so sorry!" He smiles sweetly. "Are you gonna sit there smiling like an idiot or are you gonna get me some napkins?" I snap. Veronica snickers at his stunned expression. "I'll be right back," He mumbles, grabbing a handful of napkins.
When he comes back I realize who he is. "Oh, you're that kid from One Direction, what's your name? Zayn?" I ask. He smiles widely, "That'd be me." He smiles. "Oh, well in that case, let me thank you for spilling your hot drink all over my leg," I say sarcastically. "Oh, right," He bends down to wipe the coffee off of my leg. "Let me make it up to you," He says, standing up, holding the dirty napkins.
"I don't want concert tickets, I don't want backstage passes, I don't want an exclusive interview, and quite frankly, I don't even want to be having this conversation. I just want my coffee." I smile sarcastically. Veronica puts her fist in her mouth to stop from laughing. Zayn looks at her with a funny face then back at me, "Let me pay then," He smiles. "Fine." I roll my eyes.
I place my order and wait for the kid at the reigister to hand me my cup. Zayn hands him the money, "Keep the change," He smiles like he's doing someone a huge favor. I laugh to myself. "What's funny?" He asks, smiling down at me. "Nothing," I shrug. "Then why are you laughing?" He asks, confused. "I'm laughing at you. You act like you're God's gift to the world, you're not so great," I roll my eyes.
"Sorry for buying you coffee?" He asks, puzzled. "No, thanks for the drink, but next time you try to hit on a girl, don't spill on her in the process," I snap.
As I walk out the door with Veronica holding my arm Zayn calls out, "Wait, what's your name?" I look over my shoulder.
"Lucy, although you don't need to know it, since I won't be seeing you ever again,"
Then we continue walking, where as most girls would be screaming that they just met him.. We couldn't feel more unfortunate.
