Chapter 3


After I had sat in my room alone for a while my parents must have sensed that I'd calmed down and they came in, "Jenelle, we know you don't want to move. But it'll be a much nicer neighborhood to live in," Mom said, coming to sit down next to me. I turned towards the wall and asked, "Where will I go to school?" "Ellington," Mom said. "ELLINGTON?!" I screeched, jumping up from my bed and storming over to my closet and yanking it open, "You honestly think I'll fit in at ELLINGTON, that snobby prep school? Look at my clothes! Look at me! Look at my lifestyle!" "Now calm down, you'll fit in just fine. And what's wrong with your lifestyle?" Dad asked, standing in the doorway. "I like to party! I drink, I do weed! I'm basically a wh*re! Yeah, don't look so shocked! That's what I do!" I said, deciding to admit it to them. What else did I have to lose? "Then Ellington will be a good place for you. Some structure, get you out of that trashy public high school," Mom said, raising her eyebrows. "Just cause it's a public school doesn't make it trashy," I sneered. "No, some public schools are very nice. But yours, yours Jenelle, that's a bad school," Dad said. I didn't want to admit it, but they had a point. Heck, I was probably the way I was now because of what I'd grown up around. "But my friends, I don't want to leave them," I protested, ready to rip something apart in anger. "You'll find better friends. Now go shower or whatever you wanted to do. But don't think we won't be discussing this whole drug and drinking thing later," my dad said, ushering my mom out of the room, leaving me standing there in utter shock. My phone buzzed on my bed and I leaped for it, it was Amy. "We got a ride home from some hot guys(;" I had totally forgotten I asked her how she got home. I took a deep breath and quickly sent out a very strongly-worded text about me moving to both her and Lucia. I threw my phone on my bed and stalked off to the bathroom.
