"Mom, I'm
going out for a while!" I yelled to her as I scrambled out
the door. "Be
back...whenever!"
"You still have to pack," she called out to me.
"Don't be out too long!"
I had already slammed the door, so I didn't hear what Mom
said.
Oh well, I thought. Doesn't matter.
I hopped on my bike and set off for the StarStone.
I put in my earphones and smiled, feeling like a movie star as
the wind blew through my hair.
I stuck out my arms and closed my eyes, enjoying the warm summer
breeze.
"BOO!" someone screamed.
My eyes flew open and I screamed.
I almost fell off my bike.
It was just Tim. I sighed.
Time rode up next to me.
"TIM EMERSON," I screamed. "Did you really have to
do that?!"
He answered by poking me.
I stuck my tongue out at him.
Tim knew I wasn't really mad, which is why we're best
friends.
We understood each other without having to say anything.
I sighed, wondering if he would ever like me.
He became my friend back in October 2010, when he came into my
class during church.
They put us in age groups and mine happened to be the 12-14 age
group.
He walked in and I got disappointed.
He really wasn't cute. He sat right next to me and we
continued with class.
He knew like every answer and he was kinda loud.
I noticed he was always smiling. He even talked to me a few times
and made me laugh.
I love Tim's personality. We've been friends ever
since.
"Hey, where ya goin'?" Tim broke into my thoughts.
"Kat told me to come to the StarStone so I asked my mom to
drop me off at your place with my bike."
"Figured," I answered. "I'm going there,
too."
Kat had met Tim when we met up at the movie theatre to see the
Hunger Games.
"Race you there!"
"10 bucks if you lose," I yelled, pedaling faster,
"Make that 20!" Tim yelled, racing after me.
We both looked at each other and laughed. I love that about Tim,
he's so competitive.
I'm as fast as him, maybe even faster, so he'd never let
me win.
That's the fun part, 'cause I don't believe in
letting the girl win. I always like a little competition.
I smiled as I watched Tim pedaling ahead.
I snapped back to reality. Oh shoot, he's in front of
me.
I smirked. Not for long, I thought.
I switched gears and started pedaling.
With my speed at 7, I would be able to win.
"What now," I screamed as I flew past Tim, with my
hands in the air.
"WATCH OUT!"
"Huh?" I faced forward and screamed.
I went up a small wooden skateboard ramp and the ground
disappeared beneath me.
How was that? I know, I hate cliff hangers too. But I
thought the story needed to get a bit more exciting. What do you
think will happen next? Comment what you think! And how's the
story so far? I know, it's kind of boring at first but it
will speed up soon. Feedback? :)
