Once upon a time I was happy, once upon a time I didn't have cancer.
It happened so fast and I remember every second of that day. It was the day I found out I had cancer, the day my once so perfect life shattered into a million pieces. I was racing against under 15's, my age group in a track race. I was getting ready, stretching and crossing my fingers that I'd win. ''Good luck,'' my best friend Jamie said to me. I usually hung out with guys though I did have a few friends that were girls.
''Thanks,'' I had said to him. Just as I was about to leave where Jamie was standing, I heard a loud voice and automatically recognised it.
''Arianna! Arianna! Aria!'' I had looked and saw one of my closest girl friends, Nicole. She was crazy but that's what everybody loved her for. With her big bright eyes, red hair that always changed colour and noise ring she stood out in the crowd. Her hair colour always changed, before red it was a mixture of brown and green. 
''Yes Nikki?'' I asked.
''Good luck!'' she had told me, bouncing up and down. I thanked her and got ready for my race. The next bit went so quickly, I was racing and I was in front everybody by a lot. I was just about to cross that finish line, it was basically a step away but I collapsed. The next time I woke up I was in a white room, my mum, dad and brother were all in the room.
''What happened?'' I remember asking, my voice sounding cracked and my throat was dry.
''Oh thank god you're okay baby,'' my mum said crying. Back then I didn't know what she had been crying about, apart from a hurting throat I was fine but it wasn't that, she was crying because she had found out some devastating news.
''I'm fine mum,'' I rolled my eyes. ''What happened? Can somebody please explain to me why I'm in a hospital?''
''You passed out,'' my brother, Liam told me.
''So what's wrong with me?'' I asked.
''Uh, eh... nothing, nothing's wrong with you.'' My mum had always been a horrible liar so I knew she wasn't telling me the truth.
''You've got cancer,'' my dad had told me.
I'm Arianna, my friend's like to call me Aria. I used to be happy, I used to play every sport you could think of, I used to wake every morning smiling, I used to dream about my future, I'd meet a handsome boy and we'd fall in love. Our love story would be the greatest of them all and we'd have children and grow old together. That didn't happen though and I'm sure it will never. I've never been kissed and I've never had a boyfriend. My best friend's decided to help me create a list on 10 things I wanted to do before I died and I'm determined to do them in the 4-5 months I've got left. My names Arianna, I'm 17, I've got cancer and this is my story.
