-CALLIE'S
POV-
"Callie?" Jake's voice sounded raspy through my
phone speaker.
"yeah?" i asked, trying to conceal the excitement in my
voice. i didn't actually think he would call me, try to make
up, even though Addison said he would.
"i just wanted to say how sorry i am. for Jessica, for not
coming after you, for ignoring you.. for everything. it was
stupid of me. i don't like her. i like you." he
practically whispered the last sentence, but i still heard it
loud and clear. my cheeks flushed, and i was grateful that he
couldn't see me.
i inspected myself in the mirror hanging on my wall. my long,
blonde hair was carelessly tied back into a sloppy bun, every
strand of hair seemingly out of place. my grey sweat pants
sported a small white stain, probably from bleach, and my
oversized tee hung over my shoulder.
"it's fine," i told him, before realizing that i
had only addressed part of what he just said. "and i like
you too,"
i could hear the smile in his voice as he replied, telling me
about his plans to take me to the beach again tomorrow and make
it all up. i agreed, and we decided to meet at his house around
12:30 for lunch before we left. "well i should probably go,
it's getting late," he told me. i glanced at my clock,
the bright red numbers reading 11:20, and i yawned in
agreement.
"see you tomorrow," i said before clicking End Call. i
tossed my phone across the room, hearing the thump noise it made
when it landed on the carpet, close to my door.
i reached over, clicking off my bedside lamp, before climbing
under my dark blue covers. i had no problem falling asleep,
thinking about Jake. maybe he was my dream guy, after all.
i think this is
the second to last chapter, so only one more after this.
