It's six
thirty, I don't know what to wear, and Blake will be here in
thirty minutes. My eyes traveled over my closet, scanning every
shirt, skirt, pair of jeans, heels. I sighed, settling for my
favorite pair of black skinny jeans with a t-shirt and peach
colored heels.
A few minutes after finishing a pony-tail the doorbell rang,
showing Blake behind it. His hair was dripping from the pouring
rain and his shoulders slightly wet, but his face still held a
happy smile. I smiled up at him, showing my true excitement that
he was here.
"Hey," Blake said when I answered the door, I took a
step to get outside to his car, but he blocked my way.
"Blake wha-"
"We're staying here." He stated. What?
"Why?" I asked looking up at him.
"Because I know, from personal experience; that you are very
crabby when your on your period. And I'm not about to force
you to sit in an uncomfortable movie theater seat."
"They're not that uncomfortable..." I
protested.
"Plus I have no idea what movie we where going to see. They
all sucked." Blake sighed, letting himself in my house.
"Mom?!" I hollered to the kitchen.
"Yeah?" I heard her call back, then a small
clank.
"We're staying here." I said, just loud enough for
her to hear. She said something in return that I couldn't
hear.
"So, what are we going to do?" I asked, looking up at
Blake, who bore a beaming smile on his tan face.
"We're going to go in our tree fort. It's still
totally intact." He answered, I looked behind him at the
pouring rain outside.
"No leaks." He explained, answering my unasked
question.
"We're going in our tree fort?" When Blake and I
where five, we spent an entire summer building a tree fort, a
small ladder cascaded down the tree and the leaves surrounded the
windows, unable for us to see the world outside. It was our
escape from reality. It wasn't too big, but had room for two
people to walk around and sit comfortably. It held intact four
windows, one on each wall, and a wooden door, slightly shorter
than Blake was now.
"We're going to our tree fort." Blake
repeated.
