Life As Alex -
Chapter 2
OMG guys, I love
you! I'm so happy! 10 notifications in like 10 minutes!!! I'll
write 2 chapters!
I was walking along the
beach, the sand falling beneath my feet. The water was crystal
clear, and there were beautiful seashells scattered along the
warm sand. I picked up a konch shell and looked in it. It was so
pretty! I dropped it and kept walking, forever, it was never
ending...
"She's up!"
Someone shouted. It felt like they were using a megaphone in my
ear. I couldn't open my eyes. What was happening? Where am I? I
thought I was on the beach?
"Oh, Alex!"
Someone cried. I tried, but I couldn't move my body. I could only
hear. I wanted desperately to look around, to know what the hell
was happening. Finally, my eyes opened. My mom and my sister were
sitting next to me. I was in a hospital bed.
"What happened?"
I asked groggily.
"Honey, a TV fell
on you, remember?" My mother sounded happy to see me
awake.
"No. What are you
talking about? I was on the beach!"
My mom exchanged
a glace with the doctor. Well, I think it was the doctor, he had
scrubs on.
"It's perfectly
normal for her to be disoriented." He assured my mom. She still
didn't look assured.
He gave a
sympathetic smile and walked out to get me some food.
"Honey, do you
remember anything?" She looked frantic.
"Um. I know
you're my mom, and I know she's my sister, Cassie." I pointed to
my sleeping sister. "And I know my name is Alex. That's all." I
didn't mention that I didn't even remember what I looked
like.
She looked
relieved I at least knew my family.
The doctor came
back in, placing mashed potatoes at my face. I cringed. "No
thanks."
"Honey, you have
to eat." My mom repremanded. I reluctantly took little
bites.
The doctor looked
nervous. He beckoned my mom into the hall, and I was left to eat
my bland mashed potatoes alone.
My mom came in,
looking nervous. "Alex?"
"Yeah?" I was
scared now.
The doctor
grabbed my hand gently. "Honey, the only way you can survive is
to have special surgery."
I looked to my
mom. She must have read the questions on my face. "Tell her what
it is."
He hesitated.
"Well, the surgery is going to involve us putting your brain in
someone else's body."
I think I fell
off the bed, I don't really remember. I looked at my mom, looking
wildly for some hint of a joke. But nothing, she looked
devestated.
"You mean,
like...a-a clone?"
"Not exactly."
The doctor explained. "The body your brain will be put into is
Allie Starr's."
Allie Starr? She
was a supermodel. A 16 year old SUPER MODEL. SUPER.
MODEL.
"This isn't
happening." I simply told him.
"I'm sorry,
honey, but it is." My mom patted my hand. "But you'll still be
Alex." She smiled a tiny smile.
But I wouldn't be
in my body. People would think I was a dead super model. This
should be fun, right?
Once again, I
woke up loopy in a hospital bed. Only this time, my hands weren't
my hands. They were perfect. Kind of like Allie Starr's. Then I
remembered. My new life. Will I keep my name? Or will I pretend
to be Allie?
"It worked!" My
mom cried, hugging me.
"Mom. can't.
breathe." I struggled.
"Sorry." She
wiped her nose. "But my baby is okay!"
"Um, if you
haven't noticed I'm in a famous person's body, Mom."
"Yes, but you're
still you."
I shrugged. The
doctor came in, my mom signed stuff, and then my mom left. I had
to stay one more night.
Okay :) That was
