“Do you know what that
means?” Maya couldn’t contain her excitement.
“No,” I stared at her waiting for an explanation.
“Do
you dance or sing?” She was shaking like she did when she
had too much coffee.
“I
might…” I looked down embarrassed. I was hoping to
keep this secret when I came to LA. “I sing.”
“Sarah, do you know what that means?” She let put a
small scream and I jumped a little. “That means
you’re one of the best singers in the world! I can’t
believe it!”
“Wait, what is Yuro.” I was so confused it
wasn’t even funny.
“It’s the academy in China for only the best dancers,
singers, actors, and instrument players in the world, it’s
a huge deal!” She ran over to my closet and started to
throw all of my cloths on my bed.
“If
it’s such a big deal, how come I’ve never heard of
it?”
Maya ran
back over to my closet and pulled out my suitcase.
“It’s top secret, I don’t know why though.
Probably to keep paparazzi away.” She considered that
possibility.
“So,
I just got invited to the top academy for talented people in the
world.” I sat down on the bed. “No way.”
“Yeah way! Read the packet!” She ripped it out of my
hand and looked at it before I could.
“Maya, if it’s top secret, then how come you know
about it?” I stood up and gently took the packet from her
hand.
“I
have a friend that goes there, she’s a dancer, and maybe
you’ll befriend her.” I shook my head in disbelief
and looked at the letter on the second page of the packet.
Dear
Sarah Hoster,
We are very pleased to tell you that we would like to have
you join us at Yuro, we have been watching your singing abilities
for years now, and it has grown to the extreme.
I skipped
the part that explained what Yuro was.
Yuro
is located in Beijing China, but the main language is English in
the academy. We understand that your mother is dealing with
breast cancer, and as a reward for going to our school, we will
pay the medical bills and provide video chats through a large
computer. We are also aware that you are participating in a state
test, so we will not start your training until the program is
over. Please, join us at Yuro, we want you, and soon you will
realize just how much you want us.
