Chapter 1

Later thqt day, I woke up feeling as if I was falling and then I felt a sudden pain on my back. I opened my eyes and saw Troy's worried face looking down at me from the side of the bed.
"What happened?" I asked, rubbing sleep from my eyes.
"You fell off the bed," Troy said, trying not to laugh.
"No wonder," I said, straning to get my.
"Here, let me help you," Troy got up and eased me onto the bed then started rubbing my back gently. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks. How long was I asleep?" I asked, settling myself so that Troy was leaning against the wall and I was leaning against his chest.
"About two hours. It's seven now. Want me to take you home? The thunder stopped." I was briefly reminded of the horrible thunder storm that brought me here.
"Nah, not right now. I wanna hang out with you."
"Sure, what do you wanna do?"
"Um..." I start uncomfortably.
"What is it?" he asked.
"Can you tell me what Lillan said?" I asked, thinking back to when we first met two weeks ago. I felt Troy stiffen behind me then relax as he started to rub my arm.
"I'm not really up to it right now."
"Please," I  beg. Finally, Troy gave in.
"We were talking this one time and she asked me why I was always so sad so I told her about you. Then I showed her a picture of you and she said some...stuff."
"What type of stuff?"
"Mean stuff."
"Like...?"
"I don't want to tell you."
"Why not?"
"I don't want you to get upset."
"I won't get upset. I promise." Troy regarded me skeptically.
"She said that she thought you weren't pretty. She said that you sounded like a pain. And then she said that you weren't worth me being sad all the time. So I just snapped. I told her she was a beyotch and that I hate her but she didn't care so I almost punched her. If some other guys hadn't been there to stop me, she wouldn't have gone away laughing at me. I'm really sorry about her, Lexi. And to be honest, after she said that, I didn't care when she died. I was happy. She deserved it."
Alright, I admit I was upset but I promised Troy I wouldn't be so I couldn't show it. So instead I turned around and leaned forward and kissed Troy. At first it seemed urgent but then I calmed down a bit and pulled away, going in for a hug this time.
"I love you," I whispered into his ear, letting a single tear fall.
"I love you too."
