Dear Diary:4


 Dear Diary, March 13, 1945
 
I woke up this morning in my new bedroom. I climb out of my bed to find a note on my door. . .
 
“Lily, please come down stairs when you are ready. There are clothes in your closet and breakfast down stairs. See you soon.  
                               Love, Macy and Joe (A.K.A mom and dad)

    Mom and dad?! They aren’t my family! My family is back in Germanywhile I’m stuck in America! This cant be happening. . . I make my way down the steps when I see Macy and Joe sitting at a table. I stop dead in my tracks. I try to turn to go back up the steps but the floor creaks. Their heads snap up immediately and I dash back up the steps and sprint to my room, slamming the door. They run up after me and I quickly lock the door. Joe starts talking to me but I ignore him. He tells me there is food outside the door and my stomach grumbles so loud I bet they can hear it. They soon walk back down the steps back to the table. I, then, quietly open the door, grab the food, and quickly shut and lock the door yet again. After I get done eating I go over to my window. I look out at the city and see all the giant buildings that look like they scrape the sky, all the noisy cars and all the busy people walking place to place. I needed some fresh air so I opened it. Suddenly the smell of the restaurants and café’s, with a hint of ocean air surround me and my new bedroom. Then there is a knock at the door. I look out my peep hole to find Joe standing outside. He asks my to let him in so I unlock my door and walk back to sit by my window. He comes over and sits by me. He starts talking about how I will be taught English and how I will also be home-schooled till I learn. . . this day couldn’t get any worse. . .
