We sat side by side for hours, even after the rain ceased we barely moved. He held me tight beside him, everything felt so right. This wasn’t awkward like I thought it might be, I was so comfortable with him that I dozed off. When I woke up he was sitting right beside me smiling, but then the bad news came, “hey Meg I’m sorry but I gotta go, my parents are leaving… I’ll see you at school.”

He got out from under the slide and held his hand out for me, I couldn’t help but smile, I think he understood that I didn’t want him to leave me.

“Ya know what? They can wait a few minutes, I just want to spend a little more time with you..”

It felt like we were little kids again. We raced up the double slides holding hands when he slipped bringing me down with him and we were on the ground with a thud. Laughing and smiling we lay there, I had landed on top of him and I started to get up when he pulled me back and he just laid there hugging me smiling and laughing. I moved to get up again and this time he let me go this time, our lips touched slightly but neither of us made anything of it. And that was it, he got up and left me sitting there alone covered in the damp mulch.

I didn’t think it would hurt this bad to lose him again, nothing like this would happen again. Hurt and disappointed I wandered back to the tent to grab my mom’s keys to change out of my soaking clothes. Once in the car I slipped off my jeans and threw on my boy pants and sweatshirt, when I noticed that my phone fell onto the floor while I was changing, I flipped open my phone where I found a new message.

“You’re so cute when you’re asleep:)”
