Prolouge.
It all started when it was hot and it was summer, singing along to the radio.. what a beautiful sound. The repeating tracks seemed to get quieter as we sat hand and hang beside the pool. I couldn’t look up, too nervous of what could happen if I did, I was so afraid of what might happen next. The world seemed to stop when I sat with him, there was not another soul, not another creature but him. He titled my head towards the shimmering moon and whispered, “Come on now, don’t be shy..”
He grinned and his red braces showed. I looked up for a brief moment beaming with pride, was this going to be my first kiss. No it couldn’t be, I turned away and stared down at the water. He moved me onto his lap and murmured in my ear, “Don’t worry about it, I’m not ready for anything big either, but this right now.. is perfect. This is what life should be like..”
What I would do to have it back to those days, everything was so easy, so much better than what I am stuck with now. At the end of that great night I didn’t see him again, I missed him like crazy, and had Jonas Brothers on repeat just laying thinking about him. When we returned to school to start the seventh grade he came back with a girlfriend, my best friend. I went to the bathroom and cried, I missed first block but I didn’t care, I felt sick to my stomach, how dare they both betray me like that. I pulled myself together and faked the smile like it was my job. Damn I was a tough kid. I went through the entire year with few thoughts of my past lover. Summer came and went and soon it was time to face eighth grade. I walked the halls in shorts that made my butt look great and my floral tank top and I strutted down those halls but suddenly I stopped dead in my tracks, there he was… in many of my classes. Would I get his heart? Or would I have to keep admiring from afar..?
