Prologue

Lucy

I wake up in a daze, with a headache from the night before. I need to quit doing that, I thought, as I slowly make my way into the bathroom.

As I try to get in the shower I slip.
"Dammit." I muttered.

When I get out I take my time getting ready, making sure every part of me is perfect. My eye make-up is perfectly applied, my lipstick has no smudges, and my jet black hair and perfectly straight, cascading past my shoulders.

I smile into the mirror. I love me, I thought.

Then, I text Ryan, making sure she's still picking me up.

I walk downstairs into the kitchen to see my mom, making breakfast. "Hungry, Lulu?" says, my little sister, Amy.

I smile at her,"No, I'm good. I'll stop somewhere." I say, hoping mom will let it slide.

She doesn't say anything. Great.

I go outside and wait on my front steps to wait for Ryan. As I sit there I hear a rustle of bushes, and I turn quickly. Nothing.

Huh, I thought. Maybe it was a squirrel.
But, deep down, I felt that it was something worse.
