"Tyler, calm down." I hissed
at my step-brother as he paced back and
forth.
"This is all your fault!" he
yelled, completely ignoring me.
He was pointing at Jason who was sitting uncomfortably
and nervously beside me.
Didn't Tyler understand how he felt? Why can't he
just give him a break?
This is all just as much my fault as it is him, am I
right?
I felt the grip Jason had on my waist
loosen up, the disappear. He then stood up and walked
towards Tyler.
"You think I planned for
this!?" he snapped back to Tyler, his arms flaring
in the air.
"Well maybe you should have thought this out! You
promised you wouldn't!"
"You think I'd do this on purpose! Dude,
you're my best friend!"
I bit my lip as they argued back and
forth.
This can't get out of hand. Brandon's bound to
find out if one of them start a fight.
"Oh my god, can you guys shut up!
What happened to keeping this a secret!?" I yelled,
breaking them apart.
Both Tyler and Jason stared at their
feet in silence.
"That's what I thought. Now,
can we just act casual so Brandon doesn't find out,
okay?" I finished.
"Guys, cake's
gonna be ready in two minutes!" I heard
Randy yell out.
Instantly, all of us bolted
downstairs, into the kitchen.
Before I left the room, I tugged on Jason's shirt,
pulling him backwards
"We need to tell them." I flat out said,
referring to my parents.
At first, Jason looked confused, then he understood what
I mean.
He began rubbing the back of his neck as he sighed
"Darc, I really like the way my face is
arranged right now." he joked, trying to lighten the
tense mood.
Is this really a time for joking? You've got to be
kidding me.
Maybe I'm just overreacting. Yeah, that's it.
"Jason, I'm serious." I said quietly.
"Fine, but Brandon can't be there."
"There for what?" A familiar voice said from
the doorway.
Both Jason and I turned around to find Brandon, leaning
on the door frame, hands stuffed in his pockets.
This can't be good.
"Uh, hey Brandon." Jason said uneasy.
I quickly snatched my hand away from Jason, afraid
Brandon would suspect something.
"Why are you up here? Alone. Together." he
asked, directing towards both of us.
I gnawed on my bottom lip like I always do when I'm
nervous.
Should we just lie to him, as usual?
Or should we finally come clean and tell him
everything?
