Caleb's POV
Prolouge (part 2)


 

"C-C-Caleb.. I'm scared!"

Within seconds I felt my stomach drop to my thighs. without a second though i ran to get my cell phone to call 911 and made a mad dash out the front door. I was outside for less than 30 seconds when I realized I was missing something. "what is it, what is it" I murmerd to myself.

And without a moment to spare i rushed into the burning house. I ran with everything i have. i ignored the burning sensation in my eyes. I ignored the stinging all over my skin. I dropped to the ground and crawled with my belly almost touching the ground.

By now my head was pounding, and I felt my heart ready to escape my chest. I couldn't see a thing anymore as i felt all around me trying to feel any sign of human flesh. And then my hand felt it. I grabbed on with all my might and pulled and tugged.

To sum it all up, I was crawling around in a burning house, nearly blind and chocking to death, carrying a human body, possibley dead.

I don't know how i did it, but I made it out of the house. The rest is all a blur. I don't remember The cops and fire department comming. I don't remember being questioned. I don't remember Nathan regaining concienceness. all I remember is when the cops turned to us, looked us right in the eyes, and calmly told us "We will need to notify your parents."

In an instant, My stomach dropped. This was not a good way to spend the last night of summer.
