Oh my God,” I
said as I sat on the floor of my room, cross-legged,
thinking, “How the hell do I tell
Drew?”
---
“Hello?” answered an obviously fake
cheerful voice on the other line.
“Drew,” I breathed.
“C-Colton?” I heard something drop on the
other line.
“It’s me,” I said.
“Why – what? Why are you calling this
number?”
Drew's Pov:
“Hello?” I answered my phone in the best
fake-cheerful voice I could make.
“Drew,” Colton breathed.
“C-Colton?” I dropped the milk I had been
pouring and it fell all over the floor.
“It’s me,” he said.
“Why – what? Why are you calling this
number?” I asked. Suddenly, anger boiled inside
of me. He had the nerve to call me,
after all the depression and anxiety he caused me?
All hell was about to break loose.
“I need to talk to you about Bryan.”
“You mean my
wonderful boyfriend?” I asked.
“The best male in my life?”
“Y-yeah, him,” he said.
“What? What could you possibly have to
say?”
“He’s cheating on you.”
My heart literally stopped beating.
---
I was hyperventilating, curled up in a ball next to a
puddle of spilled milk. My phone lay beside me. I
could hear a voice on the other line but I
couldn’t pick it up. I just left the phone
where I had dropped it. I heard footsteps behind me
but I didn’t move. Out of the corner of my eye,
I saw my little brother Nolan wiping up the milk on
the ground. He was perfectly silent as he did the
deed – he was always silent.
The door burst open and Colton ran inside. He was
soaked from head to toe because he had just ran over
to my house in the pouring rain.
“Colton,” I breathed.
“Drew!” he cried and picked me up off the
ground.
“Why me?” I bawled. “I thought I
finally had something good in my life.”
