They understand. Trust me, they know it's hard to do, because usually the guy has to do this type of thing. (ex: propose to a woman, make the first move, etc etc.)

Just because he doesn't say he likes you back, that doesn't mean he's taking you for granted. You may have gotten up the courage to tell him you like him, but that doesn't mean he's obligated to say he likes you too, JUST because you might be a little humiliated if he says he doesn't.
