The Beat of My Heart
Chapter One; Part
One
"Good morning Raven," I say to my
dog as I turn off my alarm.
I walk over to the mirror hanging from the back of my door, see
my turquoise colored eyes are a tad blood shot, wipe off
yesterdays makeup, and then turn on my straightener. As if I
really needed to straighten my hair though. This blonde mess
never did anything but a little wave. I straighten it any ways,
just enough so that my bangs will stay on one side of my face. I
have just enough eyeliner on to not have to put any on today.
That was always good. Ggggrrrbbleeee... My stomach is talking to
me, time to see what my mom cooked up for breakfast.
"Hey Illiana. Sleep well?" asks my
mom.
"I would sleep better if I had that new
bed you promised two paychecks ago. And Mom, it would be nice if
you started calling me Illy. Illiana is just so--" I started
to say before someone cut me off.
"Illy, be nice to your mom. At least you
have a mother figure that loves you no matter what" he
whispered in my ear.
I turn around and it was Jaxson, my boyfriend of four years,
finally back from visiting his grandparents.
"Ohh Jax you're back! I missed you so
much, you have no idea."
"Illy, I'm pretty sure I missed you
just as much if not more," he said in his calm but assertive
voice.
"So, what's for breakfast Mrs.
Dawson?" Jax asked, and I heard another grumble.
"French toast, bacon, and fruit. That is
unless you two want something else," she said.
I grabbed myself a plate, loaded it with four pieces of french
toast and two pieces of moms' infamous turkey bacon, then
took a bowl out of the dishwasher to put some fruit in. Jax did
the same. I waited for him to finish putting what seemed like all
the food onto his plate, then we walked over to the table
together. I sat across from Jax, like we always did, and just
stared at him for a while; glad he was finally home. I knew
Jaxson was my 'soul mate' when he bumped into me in the
hallway my freshman year. He was the out-spoken, yet overly
attractive boy on the baseball team. His grass green eyes and his
perfect smile are what reeled me in. I noticed Jax cut his hair
since I've seen him last, he no longer had curly sandy blonde
hair, it was cut just long enough for him to spike it. Different,
but cute on him.
"Illy. Why are you staring at me?"
he asked playfully.
"Sorry Jax, just remembering when you ran
into me the beginning of my freshman year," I said.
"When I ran into you, you mean when you
ran into me!" he said playfully.
"I guess," I mumbled, shoving a bite
of french toast into my mouth.
"So, what's on the agenda
today?" my mom asked.
Before I had a chance to answer, Jax says "Well, seeing as
I'm home a few days early, I wanted to surprise Illiana with
a little more than just me being home early." I'll have
to ask him what that was about when we get away from my mom. She
was always too nosey for my liking.
Finally, after finishing our breakfast, we got away from my mom.
I turned on my computer and signed into my WittyProfiles account
to scan through the quotes.
"What's wrong babe?" Jax asks.
He could tell something was up.
"What did you mean when you said you
'wanted to surprise me with something a little more than just
you being home early?'" I questioned.
"Illy, you know I don't like keeping
things from you, but you're just going to have to trust me on
this one."
"Okay Jax. I'll trust you. But no
more secrets after this alright?"
"Deal babe."
"Well, since we have nothing to do, we
should go to the beach." I say, throwing Jax his swim
trunks.
I grab my black and teal Hurley bikini and walk into my bathroom.
I didn't want to have make-up on at the beach. I walk out as
Jax is tying the strings on his trunks. The blue in the trunks
make him look very tan, his abs were amazing. I always loved
going to the beach with him. Something about knowing that
he's mine; those are my abs.
I grabbed a bag and put two towels and tanning oil into it. Jax
and I decided to walk the 15 minutes from my house to the beach.
Finally, when we got to the beach, I laid down my towel
and threw Jax's at him playfully.
"That's war!" he said picking me
up and running into the water.
"No Jax don't! I don't want to
get my hair wet!" I pleaded.
Too late, I was already up to my neck in the deep blue water. I
swim away from him, but he catches up before I'm even five
feet away from him.
"Hey Babe, wanna go out to dinner around
6:30 tonight?" Jax asked.
"Yea, sure. What's the
occasion?" I asked back.
"Oh nothing. We just haven't gone out
in a while." he said.
I wonder what he's planning. I thought to myself. We swim
around for a little bit longer and then I walk up the beach and
to my towel. Some of Jax's friends show up, and they start
throwing a football around. I could hear Jax and his friends
talking, but couldn't understand what they were
saying.
