Untold Story: Part 1

Tripping on my new sweatpants from Pink, I half-ran up the stairs to my brothers’ room above the garage.
“Zack, Andrew! Mom says come down for breakfast!” I shouted before I reached the top of the stairs. I heard some mumbling and figured they were still sleeping, so I crept up the last few stairs and tiptoed through the maze of dirty clothes, video game cases, and other junk to my older brother Zack’s bed. Counting to three in my head, I dived on top of his red flannel sheets screaming “WAKE UP!!!” Startled, Zack immediately bolted upright, almost hitting his head on the slanted ceiling.
“Wha-what was that for!?” he said in a semi-angry, very tired tone. Zack was a senior in high school and he and I were like best friends in a brotherly, sisterly way. Sure, we had our fights, but we couldn’t stay mad at each other for longer than 24 hours.
“Mom says breakfast is ready, we’re having chocolate chip pancakes!” I said with a smile, because I knew those were his favorite.
“Well then we better get downstairs” He stated in a matter-of-fact way, “let’s wake up Andrew and Brian.”  Crap! I had forgotten that Andrew’s friend Brian had slept over. Both of them were awake by now and they stared at me with tired eyes and blank expressions. Andrew was my twin and we got along okay, but not as well as me and Zack. So, that meant Brian was in my grade too and he had just watched me dive-bomb my older brother’s bed. Well that was embarrassing. I sat tangled in Zack’s sheets, my face bright red, waiting for something to happen. “So, who wants pancakes!?” Zack asked, saving my butt, like usual.
Both Andrew and Brian got up and ran down the stairs, closely followed by me and Zack. We got downstairs and sat at the table, all excited for Saturday morning pancakes. “How did you sleep?” mom asked trying to make small talk. Nobody responded except my ten year old sister, Annie.
“I had a weird dream” she said. Annie always had weird dreams and she was always telling us about them at the breakfast table. Today, her dream was about our mom’s nose turning purple, and every tissue she used turned purple too. I could tell today would be a weird day judging by my morning.
