It's hard to swin
in a world so shallow
Text Box 1
Hey!
I'm Ana and I love writing and making quotes,
Not many people read my stories and I've only gotten a couple of top quotes, that's just fine with me. I believe that everyone is special and beautiful in their own way. I also believe that everyone should be treated with equal respect. I also believe that everyone has the right to state their opinion and that's kind of what witty profiles is for.
Anyway enough with the inspirational shit.
I love hanging out with friends and making new friends. I haven't met HIM yet but I have had one boyfriend. I have the tendency to do stuff like a boss, it's just genetics. I have the fear of imperfection and I am a perfectionist. I love kids and dogs but I mean what's the difference? I have one sister and one brother and their both kind of amazing, I'm also the baby in the house besides my doggy.
So if you think I'm interesting follow me and I'll follow you. I think I have like  20 or 30 followers.

I haven't asked for anything from Witty, but today I am:
My friend and I have been making beauty videos on Youtube for a little while now and we have 10 subscribers and almost 400 video views, but we have a goal set for the end of July. Our goal is to reach 150 subscribers and 1,000 video views. I am begging all of you to maybe watch a couple of our videos and subscribe to us, it would mean the world to both of us. You are not obligated to watch our videos or subscribe, but if you did that would be dandy. If you want, you can just watch our videos and not subscribe, or subscribe and not watch our videos, or watch and subscribe. But this is the trickier part, we have another goal, we want 300 subscribers and at least 2,000 video views. So please subscribe and watch our videos! If you do leave me a comment and I'll make sure to favorite your quotes and follow you. So thanks for taking time and reading this! (:

    Can we stop
    making quotes about One Direction?
They're all over top quotes and it's getting old.
I love One Direction, but seriously I just want to go back to when top quotes were about things that people actually care about.
And do not comment saying rude things.

    paradise
    part one
Alicia and I packed for our class trip as we danced to One Direction, "Chandler, are you excited?" Alicia asked stopping the song and plucking down on Chandler's queen bed. "Hell yeah!" I said tackling her and fake smacking her in the face. Every year our high school takes a trip to either Hawaii, Florida, or Malibu. This year we were going even farther away from Rosenhaven, we were going to the Dominican Republic. Oh I couldn't wait to tan on the beaches, swim in the ocean, and play beach volleyball with shirtless Hispanic boys. Tomorrow, all of these dreams were going to come true. When we finished packing we talked about all the possibilites, we could meet hot guys or have a fling with a hot guy, everything sounded so amazing and farfetched. I loved talking about things that would only happen in stories or in a girls imagination. Something that might actually never happen. "Well, you should get going, it's getting pretty late," I said to Alicia looking her in her warm chocolate brown eyes. Alicia gathered her things, gave me a hug, and headed home. I looked at my phone it was 10:00, only 7 hours to go before paradise.
I know this is extremely short, the next will be longer.

    on my own
    part one
I remember the day my mom kicked me like it was yesterday, I was doing what a regular teenager would do on a summer night, I was with my friends. I don't know what happened next, everything was a blur. After I took a drink out of my cup peoples voices bounced off the walls, their words were slurred and I couldn't understand a thing they said. At one point I stood up and ran all the way home. Next thing I knew my mom was in my face, her voice frantic but angry, she was telling me to pack my things and get out of her house right now. I laughed for some reason. But when I woke up I was on the curb with a blanket and my suit case packed.
    * * *
From that day forward I promised myself I would never go back to my mom or ask anyone for help with anything. I took a job at the Starbucks in the city, the things I saw were amazing, people with weird tattoos and piercings, I loved it. It was a foggy, slow day the day everything changed, a lady walked in with 10 shopping bags hanging off her arms, and a phone glued to her ear. "Welcome to Starbucks," I said giving her a million dollar smile. She looked at me and stared for what seemed like 10 thousand years. "Hey, Donny, call me back later." she said flipping her phone shut. "What are you called?" she asked me, "Chandler Rhodes," I said sticking my hand out for her to shake. She ignored the gesture and instead reached over and touched my face, "You're beautiful, do people ever tell you that?" she asked. "No," I said looking down at my worn Nike free runs. "How old are you?" she asked with a smile on her face, what was with all these questions? "I'm 16, but can you just order?" I said smoothing out my army green apron. "Chandler, how would you like to make 20 times the amount you make in a year, in 2 days?" she whispered. "I would love to but we all know that's not going to happen," I said getting flustered. "It could, if you just come with me." she winked.
Next thing I knew I was in an office talking to an agent, they told me I could become an actress or model or something huge! If I got money, I wouldn't share a penny of it with my mother or my friends after what they all did to me.
But after all was said and done, I was still on my own.

    Skinny
    part one
It's something everyone wants to be, even I wanted to be skinny.
Me, the captain of the cheer squad, the track star, prom queen, straight A student with the biggest house in Westchester.
Even me, the girl that had it all.
It started as a joke between me and my friends, "Maybe we should just stop eating!" Kelsey said smiling.
"Are you nuts?" I asked laughing.
"Come on, Elle, we could do it!!" Jenny said laughing and taking a swig of her energy drink.
"Guys, that's just crazy! Crazy I tell you!" I say giggling and tickling Nikki who hadn't said a word on the subject of never eating, she didn't even flinch as I tickled her.
"Whatev's guys, I have to get going!" I said grabbing my duffle bag and started off for home.
When does a joke become real?
It becomes real when you give it too much thought, which is exactly what I did.
    * * *
"Elle! Get up, you're not going to have time to eat breakfast!" my mom yelled from the kitchen down stairs.
"Coming!" I said looping my braided belt through my belt loops.
I was taking extra time to avoid just that, eating breakfast.
I looked at the time and ran down the stairs, "I'm not going to have time to eat! Sorry mom, I'll ask Jenny to give me a bagel or something!" I yellled running out the door with my tote in my hand.
I had been doing this same thing for the past 3 months, avoiding any contact with food.
During lunch I would leave school and stay in my car until it was over, I would tell my parents I had already ate dinner somewhere else.
Why am I doing this to myself, I sometimes ask myself.
But then I rememember, to be skinny.
"Dang, you look hungry, do you want something to eat?" asked Jenny as she stepped onto her porch.
"No! I'm not hungry! I just ate a minute ago.." I lied.
"Okay, fiesty! Soooo, Adam said he wants us to sit at his lunch table today and tomorrow and all this week!!" she squealed walking backwards in front of me.
"Jenny! You know that I go to my grandparents house for lunch," I lied again.
"Yeah but just this week!! Please! You-know-who is going to be there!" Jenny whispered.
"Fine, just once!" I said smiling.
    Yay!!" she said smiling.
    * * *
My classes went by slow, I was dreading going to lunch.
They're going to notice, I thought walking into the cafertia.
"I think it's hot when girls eat!" said Nick, my dream guy.
    Today, I'll eat, for him.
I sat down between Nick and Jenny, "Hey!!" I said smiling from ear to ear.
"Hey, you want some cheese fries?" he asked putting the plate up to my nose.
"Uh, no thanks! But um.." I said trying to think of something revolutionary to say, "I'm having a pool party, on Friday. Everyone is invited so tell everyone you know!" I said smiling as they started chattering.
"Hey, can we talk outside?" Nick whispered in my ear.
    "Sure!" I said.
He led me to the back of the school, and into the middle of the woods.
"I know what's going on, and you need to stop before it gets to serious!" he said grabbing my arm with lots of force.
"What are you talking about, Nick?" I asked trying to wiggle out of his grasp.
"You're not eating. At all. I know that you aren't. You're at least 10 pounds less than you were before!" Nick said quietly, his eyebrows knitted together in worrisome.
"It's none of your business if I am or if I'm not!" I yelled.
"I want to make it my business, I really, really like you. I hate seeing you like this," he whispered kissing my cheek.
I got out of his grasp and made a run for it.
    Someone knew, not just someone.
Someone I was in love with.

    Chapter 7:
I must have dozed off because when I woke up I was in front of Hedges Train Station, Brenda was tapping my should gently and whispering my name.
"Lauren," she said louder, my eyes shot open and I looked at her.
    "Yeah?" I said yawning.
"Well, your leaving," Brenda said frowning slightly, she put a weak smile on her face and then grabbed my hand gently.
"I'll miss you," I said quietly.
"I know, but it's time for you to go," Brenda said letting go of my hand and then kissing my forehead softly.
"Bye," I said grabbing my 2 black suitcases and stepping out of the car.
The smell of rain fresh on the pavement wafted into my nostrils.
It reminded me of Austin and I hanging out in the rain.
I stepped into the train and turned around waving at Brenda who was leaning againist the taxi.
I waved and turned again, 2 faces were the only thing in the train.
I felt the train come to a halt and the speaker went off.
"We are now in New York, New York. Everyone please exit the train, make sure to have all belonings, we are not responisble for any stolen or forgotten belongings. Thank you and have a good night," the man said tiredly.
I stepped off the train and saw what looked to be Aunt Natasha.
She was tall, beautiful and slim.
Everything about her looked perfect, she was tapping her Palm Pilot with her index finger when she heard my ballerina flats tap on the cement.
"Why hello there darling," she said showing off her pearly white teeth.
I smiled showing off my some what white teeth, "Hi are you Aunt Natasha?" I asked hoping she was.
"Well, my name is Natasha, I'm looking for a little teenage girl named Lauren," she said smiling once again.
    "Thats me," I said.
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad afterall.

    Chapter 6:
I woke up the next morning with a head ache and black mascara stains on my white pillow case.
Aunt Josephine was in my room putting my clothes into my black suitcases and humming.
"Good morning, I got a letter from Brenda, she said your going to live with your aunt and uncle. So you know, just take a bath and get ready, Brenda will get here at 9:00," Aunt Josephine said.
"No, I don't want to move." I said plainly.
"Well, I mean I'm not sane enough to raise a child," she said putting a hand on her heart.
"I have friends here, I can't just give this all up and move to some new town," I said my voice was tense and the head ache was turning into a migrane.
"Oh silly, it's a city not a town!" she said laughing and walking out of my room.
I looked at the the old clock, 8:45 a.m. I had like 15 minutes to say goodbye and get ready for life in a new city.
I stood awkwardly in front of Austin, I had looked better than I had ever looked before.
My hair was combed, my face was washed, my clothes fit, my make-up was fresh and I didn't have a sad look on my face.
"Well, this is goodbye," I said plastering an innocent smile on my face.
"Yeah," he said looking down at his feet.
"Well, I gotta go, Brenda's calling me," I said.
Just as I turned he pulled me back and kissed my lips.
It was passionate, it wasn't long but long enough for me.
"Please stay," he said his eyebrows knitting together.
"I can't," I said turning and getting in the back seat with Brenda.
    Did that really just happen?

    eating disorders aren't funny.
8 million Americans have an eating disorder.
One in 200 American women suffers from anorexia.
Three in 100 American women suffers from bulimia.
Nearly half of all Americans personally know someone with an eating disorder.
An estimated 10–15% of people with anorexia or bulimia are males.
5 – 10% of anorexics die within 10 years after contracting the disease.
18-20% of anorexics will be dead after 20 years.
only 30 – 40% of anorexics ever fully recover.

    Chapter 4:
I woke up the next morning with Aunt Josephine in my room.
"Um?" I said rubbing my eyes.
"Oh hey Lauren, I'm just straightening up your stuff. Can you go to the market and buy some peaches and some tomatos, please?" she asked.
"Uh, sure," I said getting out of bed and letting the cold air hit me body.
"Austin's downstairs," she said softly, "And please comb your hair!" she said after me.
I walked into the bathroom and turned on the water, I was miserable here.
I wanted to be back in my home, back at my old school, but that was never ever going to happen no matter how much I wanted it to.
I walked into my room again and opened my drawers picking out another drab, gray outfit.
I walked back into the bathroom and jumped in the shower letting the warm water hit my back and head.
I felt better in the shower then I did in this little town.
I walked into the "market" before Austin, the market or whatever they call it here was small and a one room place with 4 aisles.
The man behind the counters' head was behind a newspaper and the other people in the grocery store (or market) were like ghosts.
Everyone was quiet and seemed to keep to themselves.
I walked towards the fruit and vegetables aisle and picked out 2 cans of Canned Peaches and a container of tomatos, Austin stood behind me and I could hear is hard breathing.
I stuffed the things into my bag, Josephine hadn't given me money.
I calmly walked out of the grocery store with Austin trailing behind me.
"What you did wasn't right," he said jogging closer to me.
"What you did wasn't right either," I said plainly not wanting to look him in the face.
"What did I do?" he asked calmly.
"You know, making out with that girl on Friday," I said quietly.
"Oh! I forgot to tell you, that's my girlfriend." he said.
I stopped mid step and then started running.
He was the basically the best thing I never had.

    Chapter 4:
The next couple of days went by slow and they were all miserable.
Aunt Josephine forced me to go to Hedges High, which also looked haunted.
I stood the bus stop by myself, my arms and legs had goosebumps and I longed for the sun to just come out at least once.
I felt something warm and soft be laid on my shoulders, when I turned I saw Austin, smiling as always.
"Hey," he said putting his arm around me, "Still not cold?"
I shook my head and passed him his jacket even though I wanted to wear it and then post it on my wall.
"Alright then," he said taking his arm from around my neck.
We stood there in an awkward silence until I broke it.
"I know I'm being mean and harsh, but I'm just not ready to like anyone," I said.
"I know, I can tell," he said letting the disappointment show.
"I do like you, but I don't want to be in a relationship, I've been here for 2 weeks." I said in a low, whiserpy voice.
"And, I am cold," I said quietly and softly.
"Bus is here!" he said pointing.
I pushed the frost double doors open and walked into the warm building of Hedges, everyone was standing near the doors waiting for the bell to ring.
Austin had gone left and I had gone right, I looked at my feet as I walked and before you knew I bumped into something.
"Watch where your going, new girl!" a snotty girl named Ashley said standing up and dusting off her tight pencil skirt.
"I'm so sorry, I should have been looking!" I said quickly.
She shot me the evil eye and then pushed past me.
I watched as she went towards Austin and pulled him in for an intense make-out.
I turned on my heels and walked out of the school running towards Aunt Josephine's house, I just wanted to go "home" and lay under "my" sheets.
But my new "home" would never be home and "my" new sheets would never be my sheets.

    Chapter 2:
I walked into the old, grungy bathroom and looked in the mirror.
My velvety curls were messy, everything looked out of place.
I felt my stomach growl and decided I really wanted to get some warm to eat.
"Aunt Josephine, I'm going to the Pizza Palace down the street," I said passing her.
"Oh no your not! You could get kidnapped or someone could harass you! Austin take her would you?" she said to Austin.
Austin smiled at me, "I would love to take her," he said flashing his smile once again.
"Um, okay," I said tossing my hair out of my face.
My hair was something that I was proud of, the color was something you could only get out of a bottle, but mine was natural.
"Well then, let's go." he leaded me towards the front door and held the door for me while I went outside.
"I think it's going to snow," he said closing the door and trying to put his arm around my waist.
I shook his arm away and moved 2 feet away from him.
"Aren't you cold? Josephine told me your from California and that your not going to be used to the weather here in Hedges," he said stuffing his hands into the pockets of his sweat shirt.
"Well, I'm not cold so don't worry," I said trying to mask my chattering teeth.
"I can see you shivering, do you want my hoodie?" he asked nicely.
I did but I shook my head anyway, I didn't want to seem desperate.
"Alright," he said his eyes glistened.
As we entered the humid Pizza Palace I started to warm up.
They had a cozy looking fire place and 2 used reclines with tan fleeces sprawled on them.
I wanted to go home, I didn't like Hedges or whatever this place was called.
I missed the heat and the sun, I didn't want to live in a little town where the sun was never seen.
As Austin ordered the pizzas I sat down on one of the recliners and casually slid the fleece into my small backpack.
I watched as Austin took the pizzas and handed the cashier a crumpled 10 dollar bill.
We walked out of the pizzeria and Austin found a bench for us to eat on.
I sat down next to him and took a slice, I took a big bite.
Just as I was going to take another bite Austin held my chin and kissed my lips, his lips tasted like pizza sauce.
We kissed for a while and then I pulled away, "Um, I should go," I said grabbing a pizza box and started walking home in the light drizzle that was falling.
    I wasn't going to fall in love, I couldn't.

I laid in the twin bed, I couldn't sleep at all.
I heard Aunt Josephine snoring from across the hall, I felt the sudden urge to slip into her room and slide under her sheets with her.
I shook off the urge and turned onto my side, and stared at the light pinkish lavender wall that was in front of me.
I missed John and Lisa, I missed them so much I just wished they hadn't passed away.
I looked at the old fashioned alarm clock, the time was 5:30 A. M..
I listened as Aunt Josephine's feet scuffed on the creaky cherry wooden floors, and as she pushed open my hand making sure not to touch the knob.
"Lauren, wake up honey! We have an early start!" she said nudging me.
I pretended to yawn as I sat up and stretched.
"I know your still sad about what happened to John and Lisa but I promise I'll try to have some fun with you," she said smiling and resting her hand on mine.
Her hands were cold and dry, I felt sorry for her.
She lived alone in a big, scary house.
We heard a light knock from the knocker on the front door.
"Whose here?" I asked raising my eye brows.
"The Whites' boy, he helps me with the morning chores." she said smiling.
I rolled my eyes and followed her down the steps, and I turned into the living room which also looked antique.
She didn't have anything plugged in and she had her furniture covered in plastic.
I heard the door creak open and then footsteps come towards me.
"This is my new child, she moved in yesterday, Austin," she said pointing at me.
"Hey, I'm Austin." he said and flashed his perfectly white teeth at me.
"Lauren." was all I could manage.
He was tall, muscular and not to mention the hottest guy I had ever seen.
I fluffed my velvet red curls when he turned.
He was an angel sent from above, but I wasn't ready to fall for someone.
    Not even him.

Brenda grabbed my wrist and held for less than a minute, "Promise me you'll be nice to Aunt Josephine," she said putting a hand on her chest and smiling.
"Whatever," I said looking out the window as the trees slowly turned into a small town in what looked like the middle of no where, I sighed and looked at Brenda.
Brenda was messing with the zipper on her jacket, she finally realized I was staring and looked at me, "We're here!" she said smiling.
I looked out of the window and saw a big, Victorian styled house that looked like something that would be on "The Nightmare on Elm Street."
I felt a shiver go up my spine as I jumped out of the car and picked up my small suitcase that was packed with pictures of my mother and clothes that were 2 sizes to big.
I watched as Brenda waved goodbye from the car window and then cab driver sped away.
I turned around to see a small, petite woman wearing a long dress standing on the last step.
"Come on, child! Get inside that house! It's far too chilly you could get a severe case of frostbite!" she said.
I followed her up the creaky steps and then into the 4 story house, "This is the bottom floor. Your room is upstairs on the 2nd floor just like mine! There are some rules you need to learn first. Number 1 don't turn on the stove. Number 2 don't plug anything in! Number 3 never ever and I mean ever turn on the thermostat! Understood, Lauren?" she said trying to smile.
I grimaced and followed her up a grand stair case, the cherry wood floors were just as creaky as the front steps.
Everything looked old, I felt like I was in an antique shoppe.
When I entered the room that I would be sleeping in I realized everything was a light lavender pink.
I sighed and pretended to like it, "Thanks, Aunt Josephine!" I said happily.
It all started 3 years ago, I was a normal, fun-loving child until I saw my father get arrested.
Then when I was 13 I walked into my mothers closet to find her hanging by a belt around her neck.
Ever since that day I had been in foster care until I was adopted by John and Lisa, they became my family.
Then last week I got home from school, I found Brenda, the social worker, sitting on my couch.
"Honey, Lisa and John, they, they passed away in a car accident," she said holding a hankerchief to her eyes and started dabbing them.
Then I ended up with Aunt Josephine.

Just as shes getting used to living with her adoptive mother and father they both pass away in a terrible car accident. She's forced to move in with her 2nd aunt. Aunt Josephine is scared of everything and Lauren can't stand it. Is she going to be able to get adjusted to change?

    There's a story
    behind everyone.
Theres a reason for the way they are.
Think about that before you judge someone.
