A simple hello
From the girl to the boy
At the local pool
On a day to enjoy.

She had sunshine hair
And blue, gorgeous eyes
He wore faded jeans
Not like other guys.

They talked for some time
Then swam in the pool
Being just nine
So they met during school.

They ran around the playground
And fought in the sand
They looked at the clouds
Only they'd understand.

Middle school started
So did cheating and drugs
They both held on tight
Through talking and hugs.

The girl parted away
Started wearing makeup
He started skating
A long and sad breakup.

Four years came near
He missed her, he did
High school was here
Now he wasn't a kid.

They shared words and secrets
They walked to the park
They were still best friends
An innocent spark.

Graduation day was here
She was valedictorian
She was off to school
To be a historian.

He didn't want to let her go
So they went to college
It was nice of him
She had to acknowledge.

Summer was here
A break from school
They drove sixty miles
To go to the pool.

She had sunshine hair
And blue, pretty eyes
He wore faded jeans
Not like other guys.

They talked for some time
Then swam in the pool
Then he kneeled to the ground
A ring with a jewel.

We are happy, we are
Got married ago
