Chapter 25
Brandon's POV:
After following Tyler to his room, where he had mine and Darcy's birthday present hidden, he gave me a small wrapped box.
I quickly opened it, not even caring that my twin sister wasn't here, and found a watch. A g-shock to be exact.
"Dude, these are mad expensive. How'd you get it?" I asked Tyler, eyeing my new watch.
He shrugged, like it was nothing. "I have connections."
After admiring my birthday present for the two minutes, I noticed Darcy was missing.
"Dude, where's Darc?" Tyler's face immediately turned pale as I said her name.
"She's, uh, downstairs."
I looked at Tyler funny, then decided to go get her.
"Jason, I'm serious." Is that Darcy? I've never seen her and Jason speak once.
What were they up to?
"Fine, but Brandon can't be there." I can't be where? Okay, now I need answers.
"There for what?" I blurted as I found Darcy and Jason talking.
I leaned on the door frame and watched their faces drain of color, much like Tyler's had before.
What was going on with everyone?
"Uh, hey Brandon." Jason said with a shaky voice.
The two of them stood there in silence, staring at me wide-eyed for the next few minutes.
That is, until Darcy spoke up.
"There when Jason buys your birthday present!" Darcy exclaimed excited.
She is so lying, but it looks like this is the best I'm gonna get.
Looks like I'm doing some snooping around her room later.
"Alright, guys. You coming for cake?" I asked as I left the room.
"Yeah, two minutes." Jason said, turning back to Darcy.
What was going on and why were the avoiding it?
I sighed and walked into the bathroom and stared at my reflection in the mirror.
What were my friends hiding from me. Especially Tyler? We tell each other everything.
We're brother's for Christ's sake! What could be so important for him to keep from me?
An egg timer placed on the side of the sink caught my eye. Why was it in here?
I turned around and found the small white stick laying on top of a pile of garbage in the waste bin.
I grabbed the stick and stormed out of the room and down the hall.
I have a feeling I now know what's going on.
