When I got home, Matt wasn't there yet, so it gave me time to explain what was going on to my parents. I got out of the car and brought my bags in.
"Hi sweetie," my mom said as she hugged me when I walked through the door. "How was it?" she asked.
"It was really fun, I made a couple friends. One of them is coming up here today and staying for a week," I explained nervously.
"Oh that's great! She can stay here if you want," she replied.
"Actually it's a guy, his name is Matt," I responded.
"Ooh a boy," she said annoyingly."He can still stay here if you want, it's okay with me." My mom still treated me like I was ten sometimes, it got on my nerves.
"Okay," I replied. I walked upstairs and put my bags in my room.
"Sissy!" Kylie yelled and hugged my waist. Kylie is my four-year-old sister. Well technically she's not my real sister, she is adopted. I still treat her like she is though, at heart she is my sister.
"Hi sweetie," I said to her. I got down on my knees and hugged her. I texted Matt to see where he was, I wanted to know if I had time to see Hanna and Sammi. A few minutes later my phone vibrated. It was Matt: I'm about an hour and a half away, I stopped to get something to eat. I called Sammi and Hanna and told them to meet me at a park that was only a few blocks from my house. I decided to take Lilly, my dog with me. Lilly is Kylie's age, she's a toy poodle. When I got there Sammi was there waiting on a bench. I sat down next to her, she didn't say anything.
"I'm sorry about how I left the other day,"I said.
"It was a little unexpected," she said with attitude.
"Look I'm sorry, I needed a break. I just needed to get away from this," I explained.
"I guess it's okay," she responded, but it didn't sound like she meant it. Hanna pulled up in her car.
"Why a park?" she asked as she got out. Hanna probably wouldn't be mad, she wasn't really the type to care about serious things.
"It's close and I don't have that much time," I explained.
"She doesn't have time for us," Sammi said. Sammi got on my nerves sometimes, she knew that wasn't true.
"So where were you this weekend?" Hanna asked.
"I went to Holden Beach," I explained.
"...Why?" Sammi asked.
"To take a break from everything going on here," I admitted.
"When life changes, you can't just drive away and go on vacation," Sammi said as she got in her car and headed home.
"Something has been up with her lately," Hanna explained."Just ignore it."
"Okay," I said. "So I know this sounds crazy but when I was at the beach I met this guy and we kind of fell in love," I said to her.
"Aw! Who?" Hanna asked.
"His name is Matt, Matt Birch," I laughed.
"It's too bad you won't see him again," Hanna said.
"He's actually coming here for a week,"I explained. "I'm sorry, I know that it's not the best time right now, he insisted."
"That's okay, it'll get your mind off things," Hanna said and smiled. Her smile seemed fake, it took me a minute to realize why.
"Hanna I'll still be here for you, no matter what, just call me if you need anything," I told her.
"Thanks Molly," she said meaningfully."I should get going, see you soon!" Hanna said as she got her purse and left.
"Bye," I laughed and started to walk back with Lilly.
