    Chapter 2
Rachael stood by the edge of the lake, as the ice cracked beneath her feet.
I watched her carefully holding my camera carefully, she waved up at me grinning from ear to ear.
I was cold and my feet were damp, Racheal threw ice balls at me earier, but now she was trying to cross the lake.
It was dangerous, but she wanted to do it, and I couldnt stop her.
I was glad that me and Rach were friends, I couldnt cope without her.
I heard a sudden splash as Rachael hit the freezing cold water, a high pitched scream escaped her lips, as I dropped my camera on the groung running towards the lake.
Rach spluttered in the water, her body shivered vigerously splashing about.
She grabbed onto the edge of the ice, it cut her raw hands, blood filled the water.
"Help me, Chloe!" She shouted flailing about.
I frowned, as I nodded rubbing my hands together.
"Im trying," I muttered."Grab onto my jacket."
"Quick!" she shouted, "Im so cold!"
I chucked half of my jacket into the water, as i tried not to slip in the lake.
    "I got it," she gasped.
    I sighed with relief.
"Im going to pull you out," I laughed."one, two three..."
I dragged my coat out of the water with Rachael clinging onto the sleeve.
She scrambled out of the frezzing water and layed on the ground for a second.
    "thanks." she wispered.
I tssed my soggy jacket on the floor and helped her get off her wet clothes.
Pulling off my scarf I wrapped it around her neck.
"Im so cold." she cried out.I pulled off my uggs and handed them to her.
"That was a bad idea," I admitted.
Rachael nodded. "Oh, I'm stupid I should've known it would collapse."
I raised my eyebrows. "Yeah, my camera got every shot of it."
Rachael laughed. "Ah, really? Good! We can put it on You've been Framed or something."
    I laughed inwardly. "I guess."
I picked up my soggy jacket and pulled Rach up. "Lets find somewere warm."
She sqeezed her face tight, blew out her breath. "Yeah, please."
We hobbled to the nearest shop.
I smiled, we were both a bit underdressed. "We look stupid." I admitted.
    Rachael forced a laugh.
We walked through the automatic doors, standing under the air conditioner.
She grabbed my arm pulling me to the clothing section.
"Find me something warm, ok?" she asked hopefully.
I chewed my lip, looking around. "ok, sure."
Racheal looked at me hopefully, as she wrapped her arms around herself.
"What about this?" I asked holding up a mustard yellow sweater, "Its fluffy."
She threw her head back laughing.
"Ew!" she smiled. "Lets get it then." she grinned.
I stuck out my tounge, making a funny face.
    "Good plan." I winked.
We walked over to the till handing over the clothes, then paying.

    Chapter 1
The gently snow floated gently through the wind, blowing in my face, landing softly in my dark auburn hair.
I walked slowly through the frost, listening to the crisp sound it made in every step i took.
“Chloe,” my best friend Rachael said, "do you want to go to the lake?"
I span around grinning, frost crunching under my uggs.
Rachael flipped her curly blonde hair off her shoulder, she pulled out her Blackberry as her phone buzzed.
I crupled up my face thinking for a moment.
I didnt really know what 'the lake' was, but it might be fun anyway.
“Okay, sure. Is it far?” I asked, wrapping my scarf tighter.
Rachael looked up from the blue haze of her phone, her green eyes twinkeled.
"No you idiot, its only a few blocks away," she replied half smiling.
I pulled on Rachaels arm, walking west, the direction of the lake.
She looked back down at her phone and giggled lightly, I sighed.
    “Whats so funny?” I asked.
    “Oh," she said, "nothing.”
I shrugged, crossing my arms. “Fine,”
We walked further past a few small cottages.
“We're nearly there Chloe!" she grinned.
I smiled. “Good, I don’t even know where we're going.”
She laughed at me, I didnt really mind though. Everyone knew I had a bad memory.
“You never remember anything.” she pushed me slightly, joking about.
I glared at her, joking too, then I pushed her back.
I guess I pushed her a bit to hard as she fell over, into a holly bush.
“OUCH.” she snorted laughing like mad, I extended out my hand, helping her up.
Tears of laughter were in her eyes, this is why she was my best friend, she could take a joke.
“Sorry,” I raised my eyebrows half heartedly, "I pushed you a bit hard."
I pulled a thorn out of her sleeve.
It wasnt the first time i had pushed her over, after all, I was pretty strong.
“We're almost there,” Racheal said. "Just around the corner."
I pulled on a pair of black patterend gloves, as my nails caught on the cotton.
We turned round the corner and saw the lake.
It was frozen around the edges and the middle sparkled with icey cold water.
A robin pecked at the icy ground, the first robin i had seen this winter.
It was amazing, more beautiful than anything.
