the one and only
Chapter 1
The gently snow floated gently through the
wind, blowing in my face, landing softly in my dark auburn
hair.
I walked slowly through the frost, listening to the crisp
sound it made in every step i took.
“Chloe,” my best friend Rachael said, "do
you want to go to the lake?"
I span around grinning, frost crunching under my uggs.
Rachael flipped her curly blonde hair off her shoulder, she
pulled out her Blackberry as her phone buzzed.
I crupled up my face thinking for a moment.
I didnt really know what 'the lake' was, but it
might be fun anyway.
“Okay, sure. Is it far?” I asked, wrapping my
scarf tighter.
Rachael looked up from the blue haze of her phone, her
green eyes twinkeled.
"No you idiot, its only a few blocks away," she
replied half smiling.
I pulled on Rachaels arm, walking west, the direction of
the lake.
She looked back down at her phone and giggled lightly, I
sighed.
“Whats so funny?” I asked.
“Oh," she said, "nothing.”
I shrugged, crossing my arms. “Fine,”
We walked further past a few small cottages.
“We're nearly there Chloe!" she grinned.
I smiled. “Good, I don’t even know where
we're going.”
She laughed at me, I didnt really mind though. Everyone
knew I had a bad memory.
“You never remember anything.” she pushed me
slightly, joking about.
I glared at her, joking too, then I pushed her back.
I guess I pushed her a bit to hard as she fell over, into a
holly bush.
“OUCH.” she snorted laughing like mad, I
extended out my hand, helping her up.
Tears of laughter were in her eyes, this is why she was my
best friend, she could take a joke.
“Sorry,” I raised my eyebrows half heartedly,
"I pushed you a bit hard."
I pulled a thorn out of her sleeve.
It wasnt the first time i had pushed her over, after all, I
was pretty strong.
“We're almost there,” Racheal said.
"Just around the corner."
I pulled on a pair of black patterend gloves, as my nails
caught on the cotton.
We turned round the corner and saw the lake.
It was frozen around the edges and the middle sparkled with
icey cold water.
A robin pecked at the icy ground, the first robin i had
seen this winter.
It was amazing, more beautiful than
anything.
