That's What She Thinks...
Chapter 26.
All the classes were over. Adam caught up with me.
“You know you’re beautiful” he said smiling, I looked at him and walked faster, he caught up with me, “You scared it’s the truth”
I ignored him; he was a player why should I trust him? Although I told him about my mom and he felt sorry for me.
“Boys like you are jerks” I spat out; I saw in his eyes he was hurt and confused.
“What do you mean Nadine?” he asked stood there, I turned around and looked at him.
“That blonde girl she was all over you” I said looking at him he let out a laugh.
“Oh she was just having some fun!” he said, “We don’t go out!”
“Whatever none of my business is it?” I said walking off. We got outside the building and he carried on following me.
“Let’s sit down here” he said smiling, he wasn’t going to give in was he? I sat down beside him, “I want to tell you something”
“Alright” I said looking confused.
“My dad’s in prison for drugs...” he said, “I mean I found it hard at first, he was a dealer and a taker. Before I came here I lived with my mom, stepdad and my younger sister, my mom and I used to flip out alot at each other because she wouldn’t let me go see dad in prison, you know? It was the hardest choice, I didn’t like my dad taking them but he did it to take away the pain of my mom, you see when I was 9 my mom cheated on my dad with my stepdad, my stepdad and I don’t have a great relationship.”
“That’s kind of like my story except my mom apparently killed my dad” I said looking at Adam. He looked at me and pulled me in for a hug.
“I’m so sorry! Your dads protecting you, you know? He loves you” Adam said smiling. I put my head on his chest and that’s when I saw Michael. I pulled away and wiped my eyes.
I didn’t want Michael to see how weak I am. He wasn’t going to see me like this. I looked away so he couldn’t see my red puffy eyes and tucked my head into my sweatshirt.
“So where you from?” he asked.
“Texas” I said pulling my head out, Michael was now gone and I smiled with relief “You?”
“Maine” he said smiling, “Not far at all well it is of course but not as far as yours”
“Awesome” I managed to say, he looked at me and kissed me on the cheek, I quickly pulled away something didn’t feel right.
“What’s wrong?” he said, I stood up.
“Uh sorry” I managed to say, he looked at me and stood up and held me, “I-I can’t do this, I got to get back and changed”
“Alright, see you later, you going to dinner?” he asked, that was a pretty stupid question as we all got forced to go to dinner. Did I make a mistake? Did he really like me? Or was he just doing it to make me happy?
