    chapter seven
Blake falls onto the ground. The two guys jolt away, knowing they messed with the wrong guy. I run over to Blake's side, and kneel down.
    "You okay?"
"I'm fine..." He looks at me. I stand up, and help him up. He leans on his tailgate. I stand next to him, slowly moving closer every second.
I hear sirens coming down the road, it grabs my attention.
The sheriff pulls over next to Blake's truck.
"You two again?" He gets out of his car.
We both nod. The sheriff sees Blake's face, he looks shocked.
"What in the h*ll happened to you?" He lifts his sunglasses.
"Two boys tried to take my truck sir."
"Ma'am," The sheriff says. "Is that what happened?"
    "Yessir." I nod.
"Alright, come with me. I'll have to take y'all down to the department."
We're not handcuffed, we're just told to sit in the back. It's my first time in a cop car, my mom sure is not gonna like this.
We drive to the police department, everyone stares at us when we walk in. We sit down in the back. "I gotta write up some papers, then I'll quesstion ya."
The sheriff walks away. Three older women, come to clean Blake up.I watch the clock change from one, to two, to three, and finally to seven.
"Sorry," The sheriff says. "Lost track of time, now Mr.Lucas, c'mon."
Blake nods, and goes into a small room. I tap my foot, getting extremely nervous.
"Meg?" One of the policemen asks. "Megan James?"
    "Uh, yes?" I stand up.
"If you'll come over here, I can question you, possibly make things go a bit faster?"
"Alright." I start walking towards him. Out of the corner of my eye, I see someone familiar come into the station...My dad.

    "Megan?!" My dad comes over.
"Hi dad..." I avoid eye contact. I look at his worn out cowboy boots. They look a lot like the ones I'm wearing.
    "What happened?" He says.
"Some boys tried to steal my friends truck, everything's okay though." The officer takes me to the room, my dad follows, but waits outside the door.
"So, Megan, can you tell me everything that happened?"
"Sure," I smile. "Blake took me out to this field, after his truck ran outta gas. We climbed up the tree, and he kissed me. It was really cute--"
I'm cut off. I hear some yelling outside. The officer opens the door. I see my dad, and some woman fighting. I lay my face into my palms. The officer comes back in, and closes the door.
    "Continue..." He sits down.
"Alright," I say. "Then, after he kissed me, he went down to his truck and grabbed a knife. He etched our names into the tree. Then, he sees these two homely looking boys tryna steal his truck."
    "Do you know the boys?"
"No sir," I say. "They know Blake though."
"Alright, what happened after Blake saw them near his truck?"
"He told them to get away, and they didn't, so he, well, defended his truck, and himself."
"How?" The officer writes down what I'm saying.
"He punched one of them, the one provoking him, because he grabbed my shoulder."
"Oh, so he was defending you, too?"
"Yeah, and then his friend saw him on the ground, and punched Blake."
    "Is that it?"
"Yessir," I say. He nods, and tells me I can leave. I go out into the main part of the station, and see Blake waiting for me.I see my dad leave, he squeals his tires, and goes towards the state line. I shake my head, and go over to Blake.
    "Everything go okay?" I ask.
"Yeah, no charges." He says. "What'd they do with you?"
"Jus' asked what happened." We walk to his truck. My house isn't far away, but it's already past curfew. I get out, and decide to go through my front door. My mom's waiting for me. Once Blake's truck is down the drive, she closes the door. She doesn't look mad, she looks devestated.

I stop, mid-step on the stairs. "Dear lord, help me get through this." She says. I go back down the stairs.
"You alright, ma?" I sit down next to her. She shakes her had.
"God, Meg." She stands up. "I tried so d*mn hard to get him back. I love that man more than everything, but now he's running around with some young girl."
"Mom," I look her in the eyes. "If you love him like you say you do, let him be happy." I go to the fridge and grab my favorite kind of ice-cream. Ben&Jerry's cookie dough. I sit at my kitchen island until I finish eating. My mom's fallen asleep on the couch in the time I've eaten the ice cream.I go upstairs to my room, and change into my pajamas.
I sit on my bed in the dark, just thinking about the day. It was so perfect, then it went downhill. I turn on the light beside my bed, and pick up my guitar. I play a few songs, until I decide it's time to go to bed. I toss and turn.
Thousands of different thoughts pour through my head.
I get up, and get my phone. I dial Blake's number, and thankfully he answers.
"Hey," He says. "You're up late."
"Thinking..." I say. "Can you come over?"
"Yeah, sure." He says. "I'll be right over." We say our good-byes, and I get up. I put a pair of sweatpants on over my pajama shorts. I pace around my room, I can feel my palms start getting sweaty.
I hear Blake's truck pull in. He stops at my window. "Up here." I stick my head out the window. I watch him effortlessly climb up the side of my house, and into my bed room.
    "What'd you need?" He says.
    "We need to talk."

Blake looks at me, with one of the most sincere faces I've ever seen. "About what?" He sighs.
"Us." I say quietly, just loud enough for him to hear me.My heart starts pounding, and my knees buckle up.
"What about us?" Blake helps me sit down on my bed.
"I'm scared to get close to you. I don't want a relationship like my mom and dad." I begin crying. It's unexpeted, I just sit there, and cry. Blake kneels down infront of me, and takes both my hands.
"I'm not like your dad, you're not like your mom. I won't hurt you."
"You promise?" I wipe the tears from my eyes. He stands up, and sits back down on my bed. All the color is flushed from his face.
"I promise." He kisses my cheek, and then grabs my guitar. I raise an eyebrow. What's he doing? He starts strumming the notes to one of my favorite songs. Collide by Howie Day. His tired eyes stare into mine. He starts singing the song, I can feel my cheeks starting to blush.
When he's done singing, he sets my guitar down. I lean back, laying my head on his chest. It's quiet for a bit, I can almost fall asleep, until I hear Blake.
"So, why are you so scared I'll hurt you?"
"My mom ad my dad were like us. They were best friends, and I just don't wanna end up like that."
"We won't." He laughs a little. "I couldn't bare to hurt you."
    "Good." I laugh.
"Remember about six years ago, when we were out in the woods in the fort we made?" Blake says, "And we were talking about how we were gonna get married?"
"Oh my," I look at him. "Yeah, why?"
"That's when I fell for you."

"Aw," I blush. "I'm holding you to that." I wink, and playfully hit his arm. He laughs, and then yawns.
"I should be going." He stands up, and adjusts his shirt. He leans on top of me, both of his arms on the sides of me. He presses his lips against mine.
"Bye," I say, and kiss him one more time, before I watch him leave out my window, and in a matter of seconds, I hear his old pick-up barelling down my drive.
I lay back in my bed, the smell of Blake's cologne still lingers on my blanket. I cover up, and almost instantly fall asleep.
I wake up yelling. My mom's yelling at someone. I throw off my covers. It feels like I'm a little girl again. Listening to my mom yell. It's my dad. I hear him yell louder than he used to. I quietly step down the stairs, hearing every word they say.
"When we got married," My mom quiets down. "You said you changed. You said we'd last forever."
"Well, forever wasn't cut out for us, Molly." My dad stands up.
"It is when you have a child. You have to make it work, for them."
"She barely knows me, like she'd want me in her life!" My dad's voice gets louder.
"I do," I interrupt. "I'd love to have you in my life."
"Oh, Meg..." My mom comes over. "You weren't supposed to hear this."
"Oh, ma, did you tell him about the part where you hate that he's running around with a tr*mp, that was the best part." I storm out the door. I'm nothing to her. She had me, to make my dad stay with her.
"Megan," My dad comes out, and sits next to me on the porch swing. "You really want me in your life?"
    "Well, yeah." I half-smile.
"I'll try. For you." He kisses the top of my head, and walks to his truck.

    "From?" I roll my eyes.
"A man in Chicago." She comes cloer to me. "I got a job there." She smiles from ear to ear.
"No! I'm not moving." I storm inside. She follows me.
"Yes, you are, you can't live here alone." She slams papers down on the counter. "I'm sick of you thinking that you have more power than me! You don't."
"I'll move in with dad." I snarl.
"Go for it." She laughs. "You won't last one day with that man."
"Well, ma, maybe it'll be better for both of us." I slam the door, I've never been this mad at my mom before. I walk down the drive. She doesn't even come after me. I keep walking, until I get to my dads house. It isn't that far away from our house. He's outside on the porch.
"Megan? What are you doing here?" He stands up. "Did you walk all the way here?"
"Yeah," I say. "Mom's moving." I fall into his arms crying.
"You always have a place here." He says.
"Thanks," I say, my face still buried in his strong arms. "I love you."
"I love you too, hun." He says. "When's she moving?"
"A week." I release my grip from him. "The house is already for sale."
We sit down on my dad's porch for awhile, catching up on things. He's already given me a set of rules. Basic rules, but rules I'd usually break at mom's.
    1. No sneaking out. 2. Obey curfew. 3.Help out around the house.
I agree to them, and go inside. He leads me upstairs, to an empty room.
"When I bought this house, I had you in mind." The room is gorgeous. The walls are white boards, and it has a view of the Lucas' lake, and my dad's backyard. I hug my dad as tight as I can. Maybe having him in my life is a good thing.
"You know, Meg." My dad says, once we're downstairs again. "I'm not actually seeing anyone."
"Then, who was that girl?" I ask.
"It was a client I used to work with when I worked at the ranch. She still owes me three-hundred dollars."
"Oh! That makes sense. Wait...You used to work at the Lucas' ranch?"
"Yeah," He smiles. "I'm sure you'd like working there."
"What are you talking about?" I try to hide a smile.
"Oh, Meg...The whole town knows." He playfully pushes me. "C'mon, you don't get caught by the sheriff twice as 'just friends'."
    "Dad..." My eyes widen.
    "I'd like to meet him."

I look at my dad. He looks back at me, and nods. "Seriously." He says. I nervously laugh, and get in my dads truck. We ride to my mom's house. I run up the stairs, avoiding my mom packing up the living room.
"There's some boxes on your bed, Megan." My mom hollers up the stairs.
"Thanks, ma." I reply. I shove all my clothes into one box. Shoes in one. Little things, in another. After two hours, I'm done. My room is so empty.. A faded brown, with light floors. Three empty shelves on the walls, and a window with no screen.
My dad grabs the last of the boxes. I pick up my guitar and walk down the stairs. "Bye mom." I say.
"Megan," She says. "Wait." She hands me her old bible, that's been on the mantle since we moved in. I hug her, and walk out the door. No 'i love you', or even a good-bye. I sigh, and buckle up.
Before I know it, it's seven thirty. I finish hanging up Christmas lights in my room, and go downstairs. "I made supper, sorry it's a little late."
"It's alright, thanks daddy." I sit at the table with him. After supper, I go for a walk. It's not dark yet, so I just roam around the field. I listen to the crickets chirp, and watch the lightning bugs shimmer in the tall grass.
"Hey, what are you doin' out here?" An unfamiliar deep voice groans from behind me. I turn around, and see a boy. He looks like Blake. Maybe it's his brother?
"Uh, jus' takin' a walk." I stutter.
"Oh, alright. Careful...Fields covered with ticks."
"Thanks, I'm Megan." I step closer to the boy. It's Blake's older brother. I don't really know him, I've seen him around.
"I know, I've seen you with my lil' brother. I'm Chace. Nice to finally meet you."
"Thanks, nice meeting you too, but can I ask, what are you doin' on my daddy's field?"
"I help him take care of it," He laughs. "Thought you were an intruder."
"I'd be a pretty dang cute intruder." I laugh to myself.
"Yeah, you would." I raise an eyebrow, and check the time. It's 9:45, without warning, I run, as fast as I can, until I reach the front door.
"I'm so sorry," I'm out of breath. "I was in the field, and I lost track of time."
"Mhm," He evily smiles at me.

    "Yeah, it's been awhile, sir."

Blake looks at me. "You were with my brother last night?"
"I was going for a walk, and he thought I was intruding."
"Then why were you out past curfew?" My dad says. Blake stands up
"I've got to go... Bye sir, bye Megan."
"Blake, wait..." Blake slams his truck door, and speeds down the drive. I look at my dad, he shrugs his shoulders, and goes inside. I run to the field, and find a spot in the grass. I sit down, my legs pressed against my chest, I feel the tears coming off my face, but I do nothing about it.

I hear the lawn-mower start, I don't do much about it, I'm too far out in the field.I lean back, listening to the mower getting closer. It shuts off. I get up, and see Chace. Great. "Hey," He gets off the tractor, and comes over to me.
"Hi," I rub the back of my neck. "Sorry for running off last night, it was past curfew, and I--"
"It's fine." He puts his hands in his pockets, and looks down to his boots. "I'm sorry for making everyone think I was tryin' to come onto ya', I wasn't."
"No, it's alright. Things happen." I sigh. "Blake's p*ssed though."
"I know...I tried to talk to him, he wouldn't listen." He waves, and gets back on the tractor. I see Blake pull into my driveway, hopefully everything will go over. I sit back down, in the now short grass.

    "It's okay." I flash him a smile.
"Good." He smiles, and begins tickling me.He ends up on top of me. Not only was this the closest I've ever been to anyone, but it's the first time I'm not scared of being this close to someone.

We walk to the front of my house. I run inside, and grab my phone.
Blake and I drive out past the town line, to an old abandoned field. There's about four trucks here, I look to Blake.
"Happy fourth," He winks. He stops next to an old truck. We lay down, and listen to a lot of other trucks pull in. Soon enough, it's getting dark out.
"What about curfew?" I break the silence.
"Just relax." He puts his arm around me. A loud sound jumps me.
A colorful ball of gunpowder is shot into the air. Fireworks. I should've known. We used to come to the fireworks all the time.
"Welcome, to the fourth of July celebration of Independence day! Brought to you by the Lucas ranch!" A loud voice speaks into a microphone somewhere. We watch the fireworks. They're beautiful. After about two hours, they're done. I move in closer to Blake, and kiss him. I quietly listen to the last of the trucks leave, before I kiss him again.
I sit up, and shiver. I feel stupid for forgetting a sweatshirt.
"Cold?" Blake takes off his flannel, leaving him with a thin white shirt. He hops down, and pulls out two small blankets. He lays one down in the bed of the truck, and the other one is for us. I slide on his flannel, and lay down. Blake lights a candle in a mason jar, and lays down next to me. I move into Blake's chest, as close as I can. I close my eyes, and feel the safest I've felt in a long time.
I wake up, to the familiar smell of the morning air. The candle Blake lit last night is out. The field is covered in a gray fog.
"Sh*t," I say. "Blake, I never went home last night. My dad's gonna shoot the both of us." Blake gets up, and hops off the tailgate. He helps me down, and I grab the blankets. He tosses the jar in the backseat of his truck. We speed out of the field, and drive back to my house. My dad's out on the front porch, looking at the morning paper, and sippin' off his coffee.
"I'm so sorry, sir." Blake says.
"S'alright, Blake. You should be going though." My dad smiles. Blake nods, and says good-bye to me. He pulls out of the drive, and my dad turns towards me. "What am I supposed to do, Meg?" He says, I've never seen him so upset.
"I'm sorry, dad." I say. "I really am. I wouldn't be at mom's, but I swore to myself I wouldn't break the rules. I'm so sorry."
"Just..." He sets his coffee down. "I'm trying to be a good dad."
"And you're doing a great job. It's my fault, it won't happen again, I swear."
"Oh, and Meg..." My dad says. "Your ma was in the paper."

"I'll be back, dad." I run down the driveway, hoping by some chance my mom hasn't left yet. I stop running when I see her put the 'For Sale' sign up on the end of the newly paved drive. "Ma."
"Oh, Megan, you look out of breath, did you run all the way here?" She sounds too sweet.
"You're moving to Chicago, for another man? You're getting married?" I have to pause, I'm out of breath. I breathe in. "What happened to loving dad? 'Cause last time I checked, you said you'd love him forever."
"Things change." She closes the door to her car, and starts down the road. I walk onto the grass, and sit down. I realize I'm still in Blake's shirt. His smell still lingers on it. I press my knees against my chest, and lean against the for sale sign.
"Hey." I look up, and see Chace in front of me. I wipe the few tears that managed to fall from my face.
    "Oh, hi." I stand up.
"What's wrong?" He looks sincere. His hair is darker than Blake's, and he's a little taller, but they still look alike.
"Jus' stupid stuff, gettin' to me." I laugh, a stupid fake laugh.
"You sure?" He raises an eyebrow. I nod. "Lemme walk me back to your dad's house?"
"Sure." I step in closer to him. It's not right, but I do it anyways. Chace and I talk the whole way back, even though it's only a ten minute walk, I find out a lot about him. Right before the end of my dad's driveway, Chace leans in for a hug. An innocent hug. Just a hug.
"I should go." I lean back, and run up the drive, and into my house. I can't fall for him.
    ---------------------------------------------
Teaser: "Well, Megan... I guess promises can be broken." I see tears come to his eyes, I can't help but start to tear up.

    chapter seventeen
I get to my porch, I see Chace walking up the drive, his hands in his pockets, and his old, greasy ball-cap covering his face. He gets to work on a barn that sets past the field.
I'm distracted by the buzz of my phone. "Hello?" I answer.
"Hey," Blake says. "So, uh, wanna meet me somewhere?"
"Sure, where?" I press the phone between my shoulder and my cheek, and tug off my boots.
"By the lake?" He asks. I agree, and we say our good-byes. I hop into the shower. Once I'm done, I put on a pink shirt. I tuck in a white shirt, and pull my skirt up just under my ribcage.
I braid my hair to the side, and put my boots back on. I go downstairs, and to my surprise, Chace is sitting at my kitchen table.
"Uh, Dad?" I say. "There's a boy in the house."
"I know," My dad laughs. "He's helping me, wait...Why are you all dressed up?"
"I'm gonna go see Blake." I say. Chace's face looks disappointed. I shrug my shoulders, and walk out the door. The afternoon breeze hits my legs with each step, until I get to the lake. Blake is waiting for me already.
"Hey." I greet him with a hug.
"Hey," He sighs. "Let's sit?" He leads me over to the dock. I sit down, both of our boots hanging off the edge of the dock.
    "What's up?" I say.
"I was driving out to the church today, the old Baptist church past your mom's house," He pauses. "I saw you and my brother, y'all were pretty close."
"He helped me home, after I went to my mom's house."
"Do you like him?" He takes off his hat.
"No," I pause. "I don't think so...." I have to think about it, 'cause these past few days with him have been more than amazing.
"Well, Megan...I guess promises can be broken." I see tears come to his eyes, I can't help but tear up with him. He stands up.
"Blake, wait." I hear his boots stop on the deck. "I love you, okay? You. Not him, you." I turn around, he starts walking down the dock again.
"I promised I'd never hurt you, so why would you hurt me?"
"I never meant to." I hear Blake's truck door slam, and speed off. I wipe the tears from me eyes. "I promise." I say quietly, even though Blake already left.
"Promise what?" Someone says from behind me. Chace. It jumps me. I turn around. "Sorry, your dad wanted me to come get you, and tell you that dinner is ready."
"I think Blake broke up with me." I start crying even more. Chace sits next to me, and whispers, that he's sorry.

Teaser: I walk into the old barn, my stomach instantly fills with butterflies, and I smile, my eyes still filled with tears.

    chapter eighteen
Chace stands up, and puts his hand out. I put my hand in his, and he helps me up. We walk back to the house. "You stayin' for dinner?" I ask him.
"Your dad invited me to." He opens the door for me. My dad is finishing up supper. I put some plates on the table, and pour some lemonade into my cup.
Chace puts his cup infront of me. "Please?" I look to him, he gives me a puppy dog face, and so I pour him some.
"So, Meg," My dad starts eating. "I'd like you to see the barn Chase and I are workin' on." He looks to Chace. Chace smiles, and nods. I shrug my shoulders, and finish eating rather quickly. I sit out on the porch. I sit on the swing by the open kitchen window.I hear them cleaning up, but only my dad comes outside. "Meg," He sits down. "What's wrong?"
"Blake thinks I like his brother."
"Well...Do ya?" I look at him, surpised he just asked.
"I don't know, maybe..." I sigh. "I just feel bad for Blake."
"You can't control who you like, hun. I have to go shower though, I'm sorry, jus' let things fall into place." I half smile, and watch him go inside. I look over to the barn, my vision gets blurry from my eyes starting to flood with tears.
"You wanna go see the barn?" Chace comes outside, I nod, and wipe my tears. He helps me down. We walk down, through the grass. I walk into the old barn, my stomach instantly fills with butterflies, and I smile, my eyes still filled with tears.
"This is beautiful." I look around, there's two square hay-bails covered by a blanket. The barn is lit up by candles in old mason jars.
"It's for you..." Chace says. "Not from me...Blake did it earlier."
"Oh." I sit on one of the hay-bails.
"But, I don't think he's gonna show up." Chace looks at me, I shrug my shoulders.
"Everything felt so right with him, but then it felt so, wrong."
"Maybe," Chace sits next to me. "You weren't meant to be?"
"Maybe you're right." I sigh. "Maybe he was right?"
    "About what?"
"Me liking you..." I stand up. I turn on the old radio that my dad uses when he works out here. 'She kissed me, like she meant forever,' a Luke Bryan song plays. I hold my hand out. "Dance with me?" I smile. He nods, and puts my hand into his. 'We were too d*mn young to know any better.' I push myself closer to Chace, the song ends, and Chace leans in to kiss me.

    chapter nineteen
I kiss him back, not just a quick kiss, it lasts for what seems like forever. I lean back, and start blushing. "Thank you for tonight." I say.
"You're welcome." He takes off his hat, and sets it on my head. I laugh, I must look terrible in his hat. I run my fingers through his hair.
    "You've got hat hair," I laugh."It's cute."
"Ahem..." My dad comes in. "Sorry, but Chace, your ride is here."
"Thank you sir." Chace gets up, he nods to me, and nods to my dad, then goes to his dad's truck. I know it's his dad because the Chevy is brand-new, with the lisence plate 'LUCAS'. Everyone in town knows that truck. My dad comes to me, and sits down.
"Megan," He says. "I just want you to be careful. Know what you're getting yourself into." I take off Chace's hat, and set it in my lap.
"I know," I sigh. "But thank you." I lean my head on his shoulder.
"C'mon, let's get inside." He leads me back to the house. On the way in, I see a shooting star. I wish on that star, praying to God that it'll come true. I run upstairs, and change into some pajamas. The song Chace and I danced too rings in my head.
I wake up, with my dad calling my name.
"Megan..." He says one last time before coming into my room. "Can you get dressed and go to the store for me?"
"Mmm." I sit up, and rub my eyes. I get on a pair of shorts, and a dark flannel. I re-braid my hair, and put on my boots. I walk past the Lucas' house to get to the store. They're already awake. When I see Blake, I remember the dark flannel I put on is his. I quickly take it off, and keep walking, I have to get to the store, I'll do it on the way back.
I buy that my dad asked me too. Milk, eggs, and bread. On the way back, I take a few deep breaths before going up the Lucas' drive. I walk with my head hung down the whole time. I can still hear the song that Chace and I danced to in my head. It puts a small smile on my face.
"Oh, hi Megan." His mom smiles at me. "I'll go get, um...Who are you here for?"
"I just came here to give Blake his shirt back." I smile, trying to sound nice. I've never liked their mom. She always gave off the preppy vibe.
"Hey," Blake comes out with a box. He puts it in the back of his truck, and comes over to me. I hand him his shirt. "Thanks." He sighs.
"You're welcome." I sigh. "I'm sorry, for everything."
"It's fine Megan, but wait here for a sec..." Blake runs inside, throwing the shirt in his truck on the way in. He comes back out, with another box, and something in his hand. He loads the box in his truck. His dad comes out with more, and Chace comes out with one too.
"Here." He hands me a guitar pick. "I made it for you. The tree I carved our names into got cut down, this is all that's left."
"That's really nice of you." I smile. I put it in my pocket. "What are all the boxes for?"
"Well..." He takes a deep breath. "I'm moving."
    ---------------------------------------------
Teaser: My wish came true. I smile from ear to ear, and watch the sun go down.
AN: Alright, so the story is going to come to an end soon. I might do a sequel, I'm not sure yet..The next chapter will be the last chapter.

    chapter twenty
"You're moving?" I almost drop the groceries. Blake nods, and sighs.
"Wait here..." He runs the shirt inside, and comes out with a box. He sets it on his tailgate, and rummages through it. He pulls out a small guitar pick, with part of a letter etched into it. "It's from the tree I carved our names into."
"Thank you." I press it against my chest. I lean in for a hug. "I'm gonna miss my best friend." I start to tear up.
"I'll come visit, I promise." He laughs. "Megan..."
"Yeah?" I wipe my eyes with my free hand.
"Don't forget me." He sighs. He holds out his pinky.
"I promise." I move in closer to him. "Don't forget about me."
"That's impossible." He laughs. He loads the last of his boxes into his truck. "Let me take you home?" He offers. I nod, and rub my eyes one more time. The drive home is filled with us talking about 'Remember Whens' and 'Don't forgets'. I take the bag of groceries, and hop out of the truck.
"Bye, Blake..." I can't help but cry.
"Bye, Megan." He sighs. I see his eyes look glazed with tears, and I watch his truck barrell down the road.
"I love you, best friend." I mutter to myself, and walk up the drive. I go inside, and put away the groceries. Dad's watching TV, so I quietly go upstairs to my room. I'm tired from all the crying. I lay down on my bed, and almost instantly fall asleep.
"Megan..." My dad comes in. "There's someone here for you." I throw off my covers, and check my hair. I pat it down, and go downstairs. I see Chace at my doorstep. I smile, and he leads me outside.
    "Mornin' sleepy head." He says.
    "Hey," I laugh.
"I've got somethin' for ya..." He takes a deep breath, and walks me down to the lake. There is set up three candles, my guitar, and a blanket.
"Aw," I sit down on the blanket. "You did all this for me?"
"I had a little help. He points to the guitar pick. It's engraved with Blake's messy writing saying 'Best Friends...Forever'
My wish came true. I smile from ear to ear, and watch the sun go down. I pick up my guitar, and start playing. Chace smiles, and gives me a sincere look, before he leans in and whispers:
"You kissed me like you meant forever."

    The End.
AN: It's Over... Ahh! I'm thinking of doing a sequel, but I'm not sure.
