you need a permit here as well, and criminal records are checked a lot too. It's not like you can waltz into cabellas and buy a .22. They check to see if you have a gun permit

never hear about them because I live in America. Everyday people get killed in car accidents, those are regular occurences too. They only lead to injury as well, but we still have cars. Americans fought for the right to bear arms. Our armed forces need weapons, banning them to the public would give the core a higher power ranking among civilians, and guns are not just for killing. They're for recreational use as well, because most people know how to handle them. It's the crazy one behind them that screws everything up

my parents worked in a mental institute for 20 years, they've seen them all. the idiots that go shooting up schools are the ones that you can't tell there's something wrong with them. You think they're normal. Prohibition on guns will go the same as it did on alcohol in the 1900's; The complete opposite of the intention. Americans need a gun permit as well, and they check criminal records most often. It's complete idiocy when people think gun laws are going to do something, it's not, and they have other uses to the majority of the population.

we have strict gun regulation in australia, and how many times do you hear about shootings over here? the lack of regulation in the US leads to shootings being a regular occurance. Not to mention the everyday shootings that go unheard. I dont understand why you're so passionate about keeping guns. they only lead to injury

less guns = less killing? it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that's incorrect. Just because you'd supposedly ban assault rifles doesn't mean less people would die. There would be a black market for them, which would make things much worse. Gun control isn't the issue in this, it's the idiotic people behind them. 99% of the people who have guns know how to use them responsibly.

it's too easy to get guns in america. In australia you need a special license and a mental health check. i know it's your constitutional right an whatever but if it's hard to get guns, fewer people will have them and things like this won't happen as often.i think another contributing factor is the fact that the government wants to be politically correct and not lock up people who are mentally disturbed. But the majority of people who commit these horrific acts have some sort of mental instability. Some people are only able to function if they are locked up. But the government seems to think that this 'dehumanizes' them and 'makes it seem like there's something wrong with them'. BUT THERE IS. idk that might just be me and my country though

EVERY IGNORANT PERSON STOPPPPPP. GUN CONTROL ISN'T GOING TO DO . We fought for the right to bear arms, don't try and say it needs to be taken away. Anything can be a weapon and can kill people. If someone stabbed you with a knife, are you going to demand that knives be illegal? No. Guns are fine, Idiots like him are the ones that give them a bad reputation, and have ignorant people all over demanding guns be illegal.

keep your hunting rifles assault rifles need to go every single one of them you don't need an assault rifle to kill a deer you don't need an assault rifle to protect your home. Guns have no purpose other than to kill. You don't use a rifle to cut steak. You don't use a handgun to light a campfire. Guns are made to kill. That is literally the only reason they exist. And the reason they shouldn't be so readily available. less guns = less killing it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out

banning guns is ridiculous. it's just like the alcohol prohibition, people are going to get them either way. It won't solve anything by banning them. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. If someone stabbed you with a knife, are you going to demand knives be banned too? Anything can be a weapon, and guns get such a negative reputation.
