the first time I went purple it was because I botched going green (I goofed by using conditioner after bleaching and not fully rinsing and also not waiting for my hair to dry, which resulted in the dye sitting on top of my hair. some parts took, some didn't and it was a mess.) I had a tube of splat in purple and splat is really awful dye but I had it because splat comes with bleach and it was on sale vs. buying a box of bleach so it was whatever. and it covered but splat sucks and I didn't want purple at that time anyway.. but apparently something that is worse than splat is trying to bleach splat out of your hair. it stripped straight to pink and I had to bleach it like 12 times in the period of a week or two and it still had strips of pink in it. my hair is still pretty damaged from that ordeal. lol maybe I just have a vendetta against purple dye

purple is the color of satan. like, okay, I had the best red hair dye and it was awesome (pravana chromasilk vivids) I needed to touch it up when I touched up my roots. simple. (though, I heard manic panic and beyond the zone reds are awful. like fad to orange or pink after one wash awful. I had candy apple red from beyond the zone and it was pure pink and I ate pink hair.) anyway, back on point. I've had purple like 4 times now, and it is just god awful every single time. You have to touch it every single time you wash your hair. especially if it is a light purple. lavender? if you wash your hair once without putting dye in right before washing, it will mainly wash all the way out. darker purple might last you a was or so more, but it'll still wash out pretty fast. I was just going to dye over my lavender with blue (turquoise over lavender actually makes a decent color, I believe) but I had a darker purple and decided to use that up first. but the thing is, not only does it not last long, purple is a difficult color to get to take to hair. I had my hair done at the salon (the blonde) and they used some strong crap to get it blonde, and there were some places where my lavender dye just would not take. I could leave it in for hours and it would stay blonde. darker purple took better, but it doesn't always. I have chunks of blonde right now but I'm not sure if it was because I wasn't as thorough as I could have been or if it just didn't take at all in those spots. for comparison to other colors, I died my hair purple and green because of the cancers my gram had, and the purple washed out weeks before the green. I actually had to bleach out the green (I was going red lol.)
