I have a friend,
And life has treated her badly.
Her friends have
Turned against her,
Her boyfriend is gone,
And the ones that do
Care, live miles away.
It sucks because
I’m one of those friends,
And I can’t be her
Physical shoulder to cry on.
So many people out there,
And she had to get stuck
With the worst ones.
Life is wonderful,
Yet she doesn’t see.
She can’t.
Her world is pain,
And love is a pin
Poking her eyes out.
God is someone who
Wants to make her suffer,
Who wants to punish her.
She believes she’ll never heal,
Never love again.
And I really, really
Don’t want that to be true.
I don’t want her to
Give up on this world.
But why shouldn’t she?
It has betrayed her
And left her all alone.
Her feelings are
Ripping her apart.
She refuses to follow her heart,
And her head is filled with hate.
She is lost.
Only her stubbornness keeps
Her going, but she
Curses when she gets up
In the morning.
Her life is a void—
A black, bottomless pit
Of rumors and hate
And betrayal.
And all I can do is watch.
Listen to her broken voice
Cry all her sorrows.
Give her encouragement
And love from afar, but
At least it is love.
And all I can do
Is hope that it is enough.
Enough to save her,
Even if it’s only for a few moments,
From the life she knows,
The world that
Surrounds her,
The people who hurt her.
Save her from her thoughts
And feelings.
Saver her from the pain
And herself.
But I love her.
God, I love her.
And I pray for her.
The child is lost.
She needs to know
She is loved, no matter what.
That someone will be
There, always, forever.
So please,
Don’t give up and don’t give in.
There’s more to life
Than what you know now,
Than what you’re living.
The people who torture you
Will go away.
The cloudy skies will clear
And you will be free.
I know it’s hard
To wait, to hope,
But please don’t
Give in.
I love you
And I don’t want
To lose you.
You are my friend
And you make me feel good.
Time passes,
Life goes on,
And people heal.
Believe me,
You will heal.
And I’m going to
Be there to
See it.
That is my promise.
