    Stuck in the Past♥
    Prologue - Jessica's POV
"Can I ask you something, Hayden?" I asked him, tentitively.
    "Shoot." Hayden said, without hesitation.
"How did you know it was me, what gave me away?"
"It was easy," he sighed, "When I first say you I was pretty sure it was you. Then when I asked you, you said no way too quickly, then when I called you, Dani, your eyes got all big, that pretty much sealed it."
"I can't believe that gave me awway," I sighed.
"It was easy, I've known you for so long, you didn't think you could hide forever, did you Jess?" he asked as he looked into my eyes.
I looked away from his gaze, I had to, his gorgeous blue eyes captivated me, the same way they did when we first met. I knew if he asked me why I tried to hide I would tell him everything, I can't do that. I can't risk it, he's the only person that figured out who I really am. He can't give me away, if he does I lose everything. He's the reason I left in the first place, now he's the reason I have to stay where I am. I can't lose him again, he's the best thing that's ever happened to me.

    Beautiful Nightmare
    Chapter 3
    Two months later.
Kacey and I were really close now, we hung out after school and on weekends, he hadn't hurt me again since he slapped me. I really didn't think that he would ever hurt me. I had realized that between arguing about pointless stuff, talking all night, seeing each other at school and laughing with him for no reason, that I had fallen in love with him. I didn't just love him like a friend, I loved him as more than that. He was the only person who could make me smile just by being there, the only problem was he was known to be a player. He'd been at school for almost three months and already had a label, a bad one. He sort of was a player though, he'd already had multiple girlfriends and 'broken' girls' hearts. He was also labeled as a jerk, mainly by all my friends. They didn't see him like I did, he was only sweet with me, never mean, never hurtful. Around them he was a different person though.
It was almost midnight, I got a message on facebook from Kacey. This was nothing unusual, we usually talked all night. He would ask me questions or ask me to tell him stories, or just talk to me. He usually wound up telling me about his current girlfriend. I would just sit there and die a little every time he said, "I really like her, she makes me happy." I would say I was happy for him but on the inside it was killing me. Everyone thought that we were going out, even when he did have a girlfriend. They just didn't realize that we were really close and that I loved him but he didn't love me. He would constantly tell me he loved me, but he didn't ever mean it. He even told my friends that he liked me and wanted to ask me out, but he never did. There's was always me and someone else he liked, I was always his second choice. Of course since he was super hot and had a killer smile he got any girl he wanted, so I never had a chance with him.
Tonight he asked me to tell him a story. Whenever I tell him stories it's a love story, a story about me and him. I always try and get him to understand that I love him, but he doesn't get it, or pretends not to anyway. I always try and think of new ways to express that I love him, once I even straight up said it. He didn't think of it the way I did though, he thought of it like a brother way. I didn't think I'd ever get him to go out with me, I'd just always be the second choice. Instead I would just sit back and watch him go through his many relationships and then help pick up the pieces when he was broken.
Sorry I haven't written in like AGES but I forgot the password to this account!

    Beautiful Nightmare
    Chapter 2
The first time Kacey hurt me, I would soon learn it wasn't the last. Kerrie, Addison, Lola, Alex and I were all standing in a circle in the hallway talking. It was mid May and it was really warm out, I was wearing a tank top. Suddenly, I felt someone hit me, HARD. It was open palmed across my bare upper back. I turned around and there standing behind me was Kacey, he just nodded and walked away. I turned back to my friends and Kerrie said, "Did he just hit you?"
    I nodded, "He slapped me."
Then Lola said, "Wait, turn around."
I did, then I turned back, "Is it bad?"I asked.
Nobody spoke, then Addison said, "You have a five star on your back."
We were all quiet for a minute.
Then Alex said, "Lily, you can't be friends with that jerk."
I looked at her, "He's my lab partner, I can't just ignore him."
"I'm not saying you have to ignore him," Alex said, "You just can't be friends."
I nodded, "Don't worry, I can't fogive him after that."
Then Kerrie, always the optomistic one said, "That's kinda harsh don't you think?"
I looked at her, "I was just starting to trust him Ker, I thought he was a really sweet guy."
She nodded, then the bell rang and we all went our seperate ways.
I walked into the science lab, there he is, sitting at our lab table.
I took a deep breath then calmly walked over to my seat, without a word.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw him looking at me, "Hey Lilly..."
    I didn't say anything, I didn't even blink.
    "Hey? You okay?"
    Still no answer.
"Look, if this is about earlier, I didn't mean anything by it. I was just messing with you, I'm sorry."
I looked at him, with an intense long gaze. He thinks he can just say sorry? I don't think so mister, you have to try harder then that.
We took notes in science, so luckily I didn't have to talk to him at all, but it was hard knowing he just didn't care. I guess he did kinda care, I mean he'd basically lost his first real friend. He knew it too, he kept apologizing over and over again. It still wasn't enough.
Then after school he found me at my locker, he started to say he was sorry, then he realized it wasn't worth it, he'd screwed up.
Then I saw the hurt look in his eyes, I knew he really was sorry. I had been giving him the silent treatment the rest of the day. I turned to him and tapped him on the shoulder.
He turned around and said, "Lilly, I'm really, really sorry."
    "I know you are."
"Will you forgive me?" He said with hopeful eyes.
I nodded, then he pulled me in close, into a warm embrace. Then while we were hugging I looked over his shoulder and I saw Addison standing there. Watching us.

    Beautiful Nightmare
    Chapter 1
Kacey and I would occasionally see each other in the halls, he wouldn't say anything though. If he ever noticed me he would just give me the little nod as if to say "sup". I would just nod back, not wanting to be the first to start conversations. We would laugh and talk whenever we were in class together but outside of class it was like we barely knew each other.
One day I was hanging out with my friends and one girl, Lola said, "Hey, hey Lilly. Isn't that the new kid?"
I turned to where she was pointing, sure enough there was Kacey.
I turned back, "Yeah that's him."
"He's so cute." One of our other friends, Kerrie said.
    I nodded.
Kerrie said, "So have you talked to him yet?"
"Yeah," I said, "He's in one of my classes."
    "Is he nice?" Lola asked.
I shrugged, "I don't really know him that well, we just met."
Then one of my friends Addison said, "I bet you he's a player. A cute boy like that."
We all just looked at her, then turned back to look at him. He was so cute.
    *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
Later that day, in class I started talking to Kacey.
"So Kacey, how do you like it here?"
He thought a moment, "It's alright. Beautiful girls but you're the prettiest, I bet you're the nicest too."
I just looked at him. He had to be kidding.
    "I'm serious." He said.
I shook my head, "No you're not. You barely even know me."
"I'll get to know you though, I bet you I will."
Turns out, he was right. Our little nods in the hallway turned into hugs and laughs, and then running off to class so we wouldn't be late.
He was turning into one of my best guy friends, that is, until he hurt me...the first time.

    Beautiful Nightmare
    Preface
I was walking in the halls, then crash! I looked up to see who I had run into, I didn't recognize the face. I looked up into the face of a boy, tan skin, chocolate brown eyes, easy smile, dark, flippy "Bieber" hair.
"Sorry shorty." He said as he walked off.
I just looked after him, mezmorized. He was gorgeous, His smile was so gentle, the scar under his left eye made him seem a little dangerous, and he was overall just cute. Later I found out that he was the new kid. His name was Kacey.
    *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
Later that day I realized he was in one of my classes. The teacher asked me to show him the ropes and catch him up on what we were doing.
He sat next to me, "Hey."
    I looked at him, "Hey."
He studied me for a minute, "Aren't you the girl I bumped into this morning?"
    I nodded.
"Sorry 'bout that." He said, then he said, "I'm Kacey."
    I smiled, "I'm Lilly."
    He smiled back.
This was the beginning of a great friendship, and what I would soon call a beautiful nightmare.
Hey guys! Just to let you all know (in case you might care (you probably won't though)) this is my true story. The two stories I have written so far are not real, but this one is. This is something that really happened to me, I just changed the names. So I'm telling my real life story, please don't hate.

I feel like I'm not really going anywhere with "Slipping Away" so unless you guys want me to continue I think I'm going to start a new story!
If I don't hear any requests to continue I'm just going to take it as you don't really like the story.
Let me know what you think!

    Chapter 13 - Penny's POV
I looked over to where Mason sat, there he was, still staring at me with that same intense gaze and those same chocolatey eyes. He just sat there, staring at me, motionless. My brother woke Mason from his trance, I turned back to Treyvon and the other basketball players and Cheerleaders. They were talking about some party that's happening tonight.
"Yeah, it's a Stacy's house. She's there setting up right now." Chelsea said, with a satasfactory smile.
"Trey man!" Danny said, "Get some beer so we can play pong!"
"Totally man!" Treyvon exclaimed while he high fived him, then reached to put an arm around me. I flinched.
He brought his face unbearably close to mine, "What's wrong, sweetheart? You worried about something?"
I just pushed him away. Then I turned back to Mason, my brother was talking to him now. They kept looking over at me, I wonder what they're talking about.
"So, P. You coming tonight?" Chelsea asked.
"I looked at her," a little dazed, "Uhh...I'll see. I have a lot of homework tonight."
"Penny, it's a Friday night, homework can wait."
"Yeah Penny," Jackson said, "Come have some fun!"
Treyvon put an arm around me and said, "She'll be there."
I looked at him with a disgusted face. I didn't like those parties, all they did was smoke weed and drink beer. I'd rather just curl up on the couch and watch movies with my friends. The only problem is, my friends now just want to go to parties and get high. That's what I miss about Maddie, she would always watch movies with me. But, I'd rather go to parties than watch movies, as long as it meant I kept my head cheerleader status and my popularity, and...my boyfriend.
I turned to Mason again, I knew I shouldn't have, but I did. He wasn't looking at me anymore, he was still talking with Cory.
Then Chelsea linked her arm with my and said, "Let's go Penny."
We walked off to practice, leaving the basketball players, and my brother and Mason in the gym.

    Slipping Away
    Chapter 12 - Mason's POV
The tears just kept coming. Penny and Treyvon fight at least once a week now. No, once a week she ends up in tears because of him, they fight almost everyday. I can't believe she still thinks she's in love with this guy, I also don't know why he still dates her. She's hurting inside, more than anyone can see. I just don't know what I can do to see it.
"Hey! Hey! Mason? Mason, can you hear me?" A voice said loud in my ear, interrupting my thoughts.
    "Wh-what?" I stammered.
"Come on man," Cory said, "You've been out of it all week, what's up with you?"
I didn't answer, I just looked over to where Penny and Treyvon were standing. Everytime he got too lound and moved closer to her, she flinched.
    "Mason? Hellooooo?"
    "Uhh...sorry."
    "Dude, what's up with you?"
I just looked over at Penny, he followed my gaze.
    "Is it Penny?" He asked.
    I looked at him, astonished.
He nodded, "It is isn't it. You really like her, huh?"
I just looked at him, my eyes bugging out.
"Come on, you don't think Penny didn't tell me about you asking her out?"
I was speechless, I couldn't believe he knew.
"Man, she came home, her face tear stained I had to know what happened. So, she told me. What you did was really sweet, but it's not enough. If you want her, you have to show her how much better you are. Better than Treyvon, better than any other guy that's chasing after her."
"It's not worth it, Cory. Her heart's not in it."
"I bet it would be, if you proved your love for her."
"Why are you helping me with your sister? I thought you might not want me to date her."
He looked at me, and sighed, "Look man, it would be weird for you two to go out. Penny, well she hasn't been happy since she started dating Treyvon. I know you would never hurt her, I know how much better you are. She does too, she just hasn't realized it yet. She's my baby sister, and I want the best for her."
I nodded, then glanced back at Penny.
"What do I have to do, to win her over?" I asked, unsure of myself.
"First, the easiest thing you can do is be her friend. Become her boy best friend. That's the simplest thing, the more time you spend having fun with her, the more she'll trust you."
    "Where do I start?"
"Well, everytime you see her fighting with Treyvon and she ends up crying, give her a shoulder to cry on. Instead of telling her she can do better, like you did last time, ask her if she wants to talk about it. Tell her she can use you to sort out her feelings."
"How do you know all this stuff?"
"I've lived man, I've dated multiple girls, and I know what they want. That, and I read my sister's journal."

    Chapter 10
Will he love you like I love you? Will he tell you everyday? Will he make you feel invincible in with everything he says? Will you promise me if this was right, don't throw it all away. Will you do all these things, Like I used to?
That's what Mason had said before he stormed out of the room. What did he mean? Why doesn't he think I can change Treyvon?
I lay in bed awake, almost all night thinking about these things.
    7:00 am.
    "PENNY!"
I jerked up, startled. I turned towards the clock, "AHHHHH!" Cory was standing at the side of my bed. I was hyperventalating, "Damn it Cory, you scared me."
    "Sorry..."
    "What do you want?"
"I wanna know why you're still asleep, we have to get going soon."
"What?! What time is it!?!?" I said frantically.
    "It's 7..."
I cut him off, "Damn it, damn it, damn it. Ugh, what am I going to do?" I said as I reached for my glasses.
"Look," Cory said, "Do you want a ride or not? Either way I have to leave in like 10 minutes."
    "Alright! I'm coming, geez."
I got up and started getting my cheer stuff out, ugh of course I had showered last night and my hair was a frizzy, curly mess.
I turned towards my brother, "What are you doing?"
"What do you mean? I'm waiting for you."
"Leave! I have to get changed!"
"Alright," he said putting his hands up defensively, "I'll be in the car, but if you're not downstairs in 15 minutes I'm leaving without you. That means you have unil 7:20."
    "Alright, alright, I'll be there."
I rushed around to get ready, I didn't have time to straighten my hair, or put all my make up on, which meant I had to finish my make up in the car and my hair was going to be in a bun today.
    Great.

    Chapter 8
I was walking down the hall before cheer. I was with Katy, Chelsea and Ally. I looked over to wear the basket ball players were all huddled up. He was right there, Treyvon. He is SO hot. Chelsea caught me staring at him.
"Go talk to him." Chelsea said, nudging me a little.
I looked at her and shook my head.
"Come on," she said giving me a little push, "I'll go with you."
"So it looks like I need a chaperone? No thanks."
"No, not like that. Tyler is over there, I wanna talk to him."
Tyler is Chelsea's boyfriend. They're inseperable.
So Chelsea dragged me over to where all the basket ball players were standing by the lockers. I awkwardly stood by Treyvon, not knowing what to say. Then Chelsea gave me a look that seemed to say 'talk to him'. I nodded.
    "Hey, Treyvon." I said smiling.
He turned around then said, "Uh, hey..."
    "How was school?"
"Uh, no offense, but uh....who are you? Your name's Paige right?"
    I stammered, "Uh, no...It's Penny..."
    "Oh right, hey."
I just turned and walked away. I can't believe he didn't know who I was.

I stopped, and turned towards him, "Mason!"
He ran up to me. "What's up?"
I looked at him, "Nothing...just off to class..."
    "No way, me too."
"Really? I had no idea." I said sarcastically.
    He was silent.
"So," I said, "What class are you off too?"
    "Philp, pre-calc."
    "You're in pre-calculous?" I gawked incredulously.
    "Yeah, why?"
"Isn't that like a senior class..?"
    "Yeah..."
"Damn, Mason, you're just too smart. You're here taking pre-calc and I'm over here trying to figure out geometry."
"Well, I can tutor you if ya want..."
I hesitated, "Uhhh...Thanks Mace, that's really sweet of you, but I'm okay."
"You sure? I could be a lot of help.."
"I-I'm sure you could, and would, but my schedule is so busy, with cheer and school and everything I just don't think I'll have time. Sorry."
Mason looked at the ground, hurt.
Great I had hurt the one guy who was always there for me.
"I-I understand," he stammered, "But uh, if you ever need help, let me know."
"I will." I smiled softly, pitifully.
"Well, this is my next class." He said pointing down the side hallway towards Ms. Philp's classroom.
    "Okay." I nodded.
Then as we went our seperate ways I looked at the clock, 8:07, I'm late. Perfect. I rushed off to class.

    Chapter 6
My alarm blared loud and earth shattering, interrupting my dreams. I turned my head to look at the clock, I squinted at the red numbers for a second; 6:30.
    "Ugh," I grumbled, "School."
I rolled out of bed and into the bathroom. I rinsed my face and looked in the mirror. I turned on the straightener and walked out of the bathroom and to my closet as the straightener heated up. I grabbed my cheer uniform and got dressed. I walked back into the bathroom and began straightening my hair. An hour later I was ready to go, I had all my books packed up, my hair and make up was done, I grabbed a Luna bar and jumped in my brother's car right as he was pulling out of the driveway.
As we pulled up to the school so my brother could let me out then go park in the student lot I looked at the clock, 7:50, I'm running late, that's just great. I jumped out of the car and ran into school.
"Hey Penny!" Chelsea called, "I was afraid you weren't going to make it!"
"Sorry Chelse, my brother and I were running a little late."
Chelsea looked over my shoulder, "Look, look..."
    "What?"
    "There's Treyvon."
I turned around, Treyvon Coulter, the hottest guy in the whole school. I sighed, he's so gorgeous.
Chelsea interrupted my thoughts, "Go talk to him!"
    I turned to her, "I can't Chelse, he's just too...too gorgeous."
"Penelope, you're gorgeous too! Go talk to him!"
"Thanks Chelse, but I can't. He would never like a girl like me."
"Penelope, why wouldn't he like you? You're pretty, no you're gorgeous, you're head cheerleader, you're smart, you're funny, come on."
I shrugged, "I don't think he's into me like that..."
"Chelsea, he's star of the basketball team, you two are meant to be."
The bell rang, "Looks like you lost your chance P!"
Chelsea and I went our seperate directions, and who decided to run up to me, none other than Mason McNally.

    Chapter 5
Mason and I have been friends for as long as I can remember. His parents and mine have been friends since my older brother was born, my brother is 18. Mason is a year older than me, but we're really good friends. He's like my other brother. He gets along with my brother too.
"Hey, Penny." Mason said with an easy smile.
    "Hey Mason." I said.
"What....uh, what are you doing at school still?"
"Cheer practice," I said pointing to my gold ribbon still in my hair, "You?"
"I, uh, I had to make up a test..."
I looked at the clock, "For what class? School got out two hours ago."
He hesitated for a second, "Uhh...science."
"Mason, Mr.Harvey only gives two tests a year, at the end of every semester."
"Well, I needed his help, with the homework after I took his quiz."
"Mason," I said annoyed, "You're better at science than anyone I know!"
    "Mr.Harvey's class is hard, P."
"Mason, come on, why are you still at school?"
    He was silent.
"C'mon Mace, you know you can tell me anything."
He did a little squinty thing with his face.
"Mason, what are you doing here? C'mon Mason, tell me."
"Fine," he said, "I had a Mathlete's meeting."
I tried to cover up my laugh.
"See," he said, "This is why I didn't want to tell you, I knew you'd laugh."
"No," I said, "I just haven't ever heard anyone refer to themself as a Mathlete."
    "I know, it sounds rediculous."
    "Yeah kinda.." I said giggling.
    "C'mon P, you're a cheerio. That's just as crazy."
    "Fine, we're even."
We both laughed a little then he asked, "Do you need a ride home?"
"I was going to ask my brother if he could pick me up."
"Cory, can't. He went to the batting cages with some of his friends."
I looked up into his chocolate eyes, "How do you know that?"
"He asked me if I wanted to go. So, does this mean you need a ride home?"
I nodded, "Yeah, that'd be great. Thanks."

    Chapter 4 - Penelope's POV
God, oh god, why did we have to run into Maddie? I can't believe she actually wanted to come to cheer practice. I can't believe she thinks that I'm going to ditch the Cheerios for her? Honestly, Cheer is more important, but it didn't used to be.
Chelsea interrupted my thoughts, "Penny! Let's go!"
    "Coming!" I called back.
I ran out of the locker room to cheer practice.
    *~.~*~.~*~.~*~.~*.~*
After practice we were all talking in the locker room while we got our stuff together.
"So, Penny," Chelsea said, "What's that nerdy girls name again?"
    "Which girl?"
"The one that was talking to you before practice?"
"Oh, her? Her name is Madison."
"She's very odd." Chelsea said with a disapproving look.
Then Katy cut in with, "Yeah, I mean who is she to think she can just come watch cheer practices?"
    "I don't know." I mumbled.
I wonder what Maddie's doing now...I feel kinda bad for ditching her but I can't miss cheer. I mean come on, I'm head cheerleader.
I walked out of the locker room, and straight into Mason McNally.

    Chapter 3- Maddie's POV
Today, Penny wore a cheerleading uniform, with a GOLD ribbon. I was looking for her out on the quad and I crashed right into her. Her, and the other cheerleaders. They all glared at me. I bumped into her and just sort of said, "Oh, sorr...Penny?"
She turned around and looked at me, but didn't say anything. Then I said, "Penny, what happened to you?" She still didn't respond.
"Penny, what's going on? Are you suddenly too cool for me now? Who are you?"
Then, Chelsea Co-captain said, "She's Penelope Jackson, head cheerleader."
I just gaped at her, was Penny, or Penelope too important to talk? What had happened to her? Penny wasn't the cheerleading type, we always made fun of them. We decided we would never become one of those stuck up snooty girls in mini skirts. She couldn't have just become head cheerleader, she had to have been cheering for a while...but since when?
    "Penny.."
    "Penelope." Chelsea cut me off.
I sighed, "Penelope, how long have you been cheering?"
Chelsea said, "She's been cheering for..."
I cut her off, "Is your name Penelope? No, I didn't think so. Let me try this again, Penelope," I said looking right at her, "How long have you been cheering?"
Penny rolled her eyes and said in an annoyingly preppy voice, "I joined the squad this summer."
I stopped, "Since when this summer?"
She sighed, "I tried out at the end of last year, actually."
I gaped, "Bu-but why? You HATE cheerleaders!"
"No I don't silly. I joined because cheer is a lot of fun."
    She was annoyingly perky. Yuck.
Then Penny said, "Now, if you don't mind..."
I cut her off, "Why are you so disgustingly perky?"
She paused a moment, "It's my job as a cheerleader, head cheerleader specifically."
    "To be perky?"
"Yes, now if you don't mind, we have to get going."
    "Where are you going?"
    "Practice of course."
"Can I come watch?" I asked hopefully.
Then Chelsea cut in with, "Cheer practices are strictly forbidden. You can come to practice when you make it on the squad, but that's unlikely to happen."
With that Penny walked away taking all the other cheerleaders with her. I watched them leave, wishing that it was her and I leaving, not her and them.
She went from Penny Jackson, my best friend to Penelope Jackson, head cheerleader. I could already tell that she was slipping away.
