Don't insult someone for having a different opinion. It's one thing to disagree with them, but you don't need to be mean about it.

Sweet child, remember that even if you are quiet or shy your voice still has value and merit. In the symphony, even the softest flute plays a vital role amongst the thundering drums and blare of the trumpets.

You have to accept that sometimes that’s how things happen in this world. People’s opinions, their feelings, they go one way, then the other. It just so happens you grew up at a certain point in this process.

Recently, my son said to me after seeing a ballet on television: ‘It’s beautiful, but I don’t like it.’ And I thought, Are many grown-ups capable of such a distinction? It’s beautiful, but I don’t like it. Usually, our grown-up thinking is more along the lines of: I don’t like it, so it’s not beautiful. What would it mean to separate those two impressions for art making and for art criticism?

you're supposedly meant to be drawn to those in life who have similar opinions on the primary issues in life, as a part of human nature. could someone please then explain to me why i surround myself with people with the most contrasting beliefs to mine, so different that i despise talking to them about anything?

Let go of control. Social situations and relationships are infinitely complex, and you will never be able to control how people think and feel, especially about you. So let it go and allow things to happen to you. Allow people to dislike you, judge you, or talk about you because that is them and you are you. And you will always be anxious. You will always be paranoid and scared. But you will also always be brave, and kind, and sincere, and warm, and open, open, open. Despite your corny sense of humor and the resting b.itch face permanently set on your face. Trying to be friendly and funny with people who are determined to dislike you is kind of like Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump running for President: people are going to doubt your intentions and then nobody’s gonna believe you’re for real. So regardless of the invisible teeth gnawing at the insides of your stomach, continue to go out with people and treat them nicely. No matter what you know (or think you know) they think and say about you. It’s not about proving them wrong, no. It’s about confirming to yourself that you are a good person, a worthy friend because even if others think of you like crap (however misguided or right they may be), you don’t have to do the same to them because you represent yourself, not others. It’s okay if you don’t have a group of girls to take #friendshipgoals photos with or a fun group of people to be #squadgoals with. Go to a party for the party, for the music, for that one girl who didn’t listen to all the rumors about you. Go there for yourself. Friends will come if they want to come. If they don’t, there are 7 billion people in the world, 7 continents, and approximately 4,000 cities. You’ve yet to meet some of the best people in your life who can understand, accept, and respect your weird ticks and flaws, and recognize your best intentions. It’s difficult, I know, and most days you will have to keep telling yourself ten times a day that you’re okay, you’re fine, there’s nothing wrong with you, you will find more friends. But you know what? Would you really want to hang out with the type of people who make an effort to talk you down and cast you out? People are allowed to say no to a friendship, and you are not entitled to anyone’s good graces. Relationships are a two-way street, and it won’t matter how much you give when the other refuses to receive and give back, and such is their right. Instead, embrace your alone and find someone who you don’t have to convince to care for you, embrace you, and see the good in you. Find someone who you don’t have to constantly convince to stay.

when numerous people are disagreeing with what you say, and making quotes against your misinformed ideas because you've so hastily blocked them, thus disabling their ability to reply, you kinda have to think "hmm, maybe i'm doing something a lil wrong here?"
but of course, everyone else is just dumb and a child.
i shouldnt have pretended i was allowed my own opinions, sorry

If you get criticized for your opinions about certain issues, it may be because people are uncomfortable with someone who is brave enough to talk about things like that
Maybe they do not want to hear the truth
because the truth is not always nice to hear

    I'm not just scared.

This is a conversation I had with a really stuck up, unintelligent girl recently about poetry
Stuck up girl: Poetry is so stupid. Like how is it going to help anyone in life?
Me: Poetry isn't stupid, people who can write and think up their own poetry are usually really independent, creative, and intelligent. And poetry isn't just writing down words, it's a form of self expression and freedom, so your comment is invalid and makes no sense. People can become highly successful with poetry. And people who don't understand or are unable to do something will usually hate on it.
Stuck up girl: like omg, hun, I am allowed to have an opinion. Poetry is stupid, and a waste of time
Me: You are the kind of person who probably has no origninal thoughts of your own. You can't think for yourself. I bet you couldn't write poetry if someone paid you to
Stuck up girl: I could if I wanted to, like what do you know? omg, seriously, sweetie, you don't know everything
Me: You are right, I don't know everything, and I never claimed I did. But at least I know more than you and can think for myself. And please work on your vocabulary. Learn other words besides "omg, and like seriously". And don't call me "hun or sweetie", because you are not trying to be nice
    Stuck up girl: ........

idk if it's just me but
am i the only one now-a-days
who feels uncomfortable when people swear at adults?
    i'm almost twenty years old
and i have only ever said two swears in front of my mom
and those two were on complete accident.
if i don't respect the adult, that's when i swear.
but typically, even then i feel sorry i muttered "fck you" to them.
now-a-days, i'm seeing young kids tell their parents to "fck-off".
and i'm flinching when i see it happen because i see their parents wonder where they went wrong.
    it's a wholly other story when it's a joking swear-like situation,
but even then i feel weird.
i get that you're comfortable with people but like... it's just crazy.
i wouldn't ever imagine saying even "hell" in front of my mom or grandparents.
hell, i don't even swear in front of my 23 year old sister for god's sake.
it breaks me to pieces when the kis looks sincere.
i understand also that some parents/adults may deserve these words.
but swearing at them makes no difference.
actually, it probably will make the situation worse.
personally, swearing at adults just seems so useless to me.
half of the time it doesn't even get the point across.

:)
