You'll Never Be Alone
Chapter 8
Lindsay's P.O.V
It was day three of physical therapy, and I could still barely stand even with a guide bar.
Delaney was there for me every day, but it still hardly helped to make the situation any less depressing.
My girlfriend and I had gotten shot, simply for being who we are.
Since the day of the incident, I wish I had just taken all four of the rounds rather than have Delaney get hurt.
I still feel like its my fault that this all happened, and I don't see forgivness coming any time soon.
On the upside, Delaney and I have had plenty of time to plan for college and after.
"C'mon Lindsay, I know you can do it, baby." Delaney cheered me on from a chair next to the guide bar as I tried to stand and hold myself up for 5 seconds.
For the 4th time today, I fell flat on my face.
My physical therapist ran to pick me up, checking for bruises and making sure I hadn't further injured anything.
I could feel already that I was starting to shake out of frustration, and with me, shaking normally leads to tears.
Delaney saw that I was shaking, and she ran over to comfort me.
She wrapped her arms around me and I buried my head in her shoulder, choking back sobs.
"Shh, its okay, love. You'll get it, I promise. You jsut have to be strong and keep trying, okay?" She encouraged, stroking my hair in the process.
The wound from where I cracked my head open was almost healed, so Delaney could stroke my hair without having to worry about hurting me.
She picked me up off the ground and sat in the chair, putting me on her lap.
"Lindsay Wescott, your session has ended. See you tomorrow and keep doing your exercises!" My physical therapist said, putting my file back in the drawer among many.
Delaney picked me up and put me back in my wheelchair, walking next to me as we made our way to the car.
We had been out of the hospital for about 2 weeks, and Delaney was almost fully recovered.
She lifted me into the passenger seat, folded my wheelchair, and put it in the trunk of my mustang.
I watched from the rear-view mirror as she skipped up to the front, pulling the door open and hopping in.
"Where should we go, babe?" I asked her, not wanting to go back home.
"We're going apartment shopping!" She squealed, catching me off guard.
Graduation was just a short month away, and we had plans to move in together and attend the same university.
She turned the car on and pulled away from the clinic, taking me about 50 miles away to the place where the university is.
"This is the start of our future, baby girl. I can't wait to spend the rest of it with you." Delaney said, pulling my face to hers and kissing me softly.
I don't think I have ever been this happy, despite being hurt.
I have my dream girl wrapped around my finger, and she wants to spend the rest of her life with me.
This really is as good as it gets.
