@ThreeFalls2Fate, A petition would be a good idea for those who don't agree with COPPA. They could start it on one of those websites that get signatures for petitions against laws, like change.org. It would take a lot of work, but they could probably get enough signatures. As I'm sure others would agree, that if parents already give their children permission to go on the internet, aware of what is on the internet, they shouldn't have to give them permission for every little site they visit. If someone complained or tried to sue they could just say "you made the decision to let your child on the internet, now your facing the consequences of that decision."

The beauty of this is the underage kids can just stop freaking out and declaring their age. We don't care that you're not 13, it just happens to be in the rules. Rules, you're supposed to respect those. You think kids under 13 are mature? I do too, but that isn't the point. The point is mature people respect the law, and realize the consequences. Fight for your preteen rights, but not in a way that could get someone in trouble. Write some letters, petition, I'm not really sure what exactly you can do, but if Witty means that much to you... Anyway, a lot of you are soon to be 13 in a few months or so, that isn't long to wait to come back. Steve said it's fine to leave your account up and come back to it later.

To all of you freaking out:
I_Dont_Know didn't say anything about not wanting you here, she was simply pointing something out. And by the requirements of COPPA (Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act), yes Steve could get in trouble! I doubt anyone was actually trying to cause drama between the different age groups on witty, or discriminate against its younger members when making quotes about the age limit. They were just trying to help witty. Some people believe that witty would be better off with out younger members, others were simply pointing out that it was in the rules, but no one was actually trying to hate on those younger than 13. All anyone wants is what's best for Witty, and some believe that that includes getting rid of younger members. I personally don't think they do any harm to the site by being members here, but do agree that if it's in the rules and we absolutely have to (meaning COPPA says something about it to Steve), it should be done.

I think that 10, 11, and 12 year olds shouldn't be on here. Because there's certain things that are on here that are inappropriate for people that age. When I was that age I was most certainly not worrying about "being in love", or , or any of that stuff. I don't care what anyone says, at 14 or under, you cannot be in love. I'm 14 and I honestly think it's messed up how people my age or under are worrying about dating. We should be swimming all day, going on bike rides, laughing until we cry, not worrying about or drugs or whatever. So anyone 12 or under should not be here,Facebook, tumblr, or anything other than game sites...

People, look how low you've ALL become. There's no way in the world you'll get kids under 13 to leave witty. Stop making yourself seem "Pathetic" Because that's kinda what you're all acting like now. What? Do you want us to not say our age? Would THAT make you happy? It would be the same thing. So yeah, We all do realize that Steve could get into trouble. But most people posting inappropriate stuff on here are older than 12. Yes, people lie about their age. Why? Cause they want to be accepted, and at this point all you older wittians are FAILING at that. Instead of critizing them, why don't you find out why their on witty, maybe they're going through a rough time and wanted someone to talk to! But you all would not know that cause you judge before you get to know them. So congratulations for making a huge deal out of nothing. You've suceeded, and incase you all are wondering, YES, I am 12. Gotta problem?, come talk to ME. Instead of posting a mean quote.

So I was just wondering. If it is such a big issue of kids 11 & 12 getting on here why when you sign up is there not a place to put your age? Steven shouldn't get in-trouble for Kids signing up on this site on there own free will....
