i had just returned from the movies with my friends when my mom gave me a box that had came in the mail. on top of the box was my address and a note that read, "reveal each layer, day by day." i got a key and ripped open the tape. all it brought up was a small covering that said day 1. i lifted it up and it revealed a short handwritten letter. it described in perfect detail our 1st date. it also had a small jar of sand from the beach and a hand held radio.the next day i lifted the day 2 layer. there i found my hoodie. aha... so thats how i lost it. it smelled like james... and that was it for that day.day 3 contained a gift card to pf changs and my necklace which i ripped off and threw at james after he broke up with me.day 4 had a cut out heart, a now dieing rose and a copy of what he put in my year book... he must have practiced writing it before, but this one was smudged with tear stains. day 5:next came a picture of the roof of the school... memories flooded back of our rebellious moment. day 6 was a necklace. it was two pinkies interlocked.... and it had a not. i PROMISE ill always be with you... day 7 made me cry. all i found was a news paper with the mortuary areahighligted. and there i found the name james cooper with a picture of us. it described what he went through in brief details. and at the end it said:his last words were, "kylie, i love you." sad huh? and guess what.... chapter 17 is the final chapter! wanna here a secret! this is actually a prequel to the real story... but im not spilling anything about that :)comment! comment! comment! fave! fave! fave! bored so i didnt mess around with layout

"tell you over dinner?" this is sooo serious! i grabbed my cute new dress from express and curled my hair. news on valentines day, at dinner... hm. i put on my flats and grabbed the gift i got him. the bell rang and i met james at the door. he gave me a concerned smile and took me to his car. "where we going?" i smiled. "hmm... one of your favorites." we arrived at PF Changs and got out. "you look amazing." we got seated an ordered our food. "so whats up? why cant you play sports?" "oh... just gotta get a mole removed because its suspicious. no biggy!""james! thats crazy! thats not a no biggy... this is serious. surgery?!" "see this is why i didnt want to tell you, i knew you'd freak. just trust me... itll be over in a blink of an eye.""promise!" i held my pinky up. James did the same."pinky promise." he grabbed my hand and fed me a bite of shrimp."so whens the surgery going to be?" i asked."march something." he took another bite."this is so crazy! were only freshmen!" i couldnt believe it. i pulled out my gift and handed it to him. "whats this?""just open it!" james opened it. i had given him an itunes $15 gift card, a phiten, a power balance bracelet. i thinkhe liked it alot. "its great!" he was so happy. he stood up and walked around behind me and kissed me on the cheek and put something around my neck, it was a sterling silver necklace and had a blue diamond pendent."james!" i was shcoked."what?!" "mom?" i stutered. it was hard to talk and breathe."shhhhh..." a doctor quieted me. "your going to umm.... well we dont have any way to help you. we're gonna try chemo, but we dont know if it will work. " i sobbed even though it made my lungs burn. the doctor gave me a few shots and put me through some radiation. soon i was loosing my hair. but my condition only worsened. even though the doctors had no hope, holden, my mom, and meg were always by my side.one day, on the worst of the worsts the doctor walked into the pale colored hospital room where holden and i were watching lacrosse on tv. he motioned for holden to turn the tv off. as he did, my mom and dad came in and took a seat. my mom grabbed my hand and softly squeezed it. the doctor said i had a week to live. he had previously told my parents and now had to tell me. my mom looked so worried. but i could tell she was trying to hide it so i wouldnt get worried too. my mom asked me, after the doctor left, what was the last thing i wanted to do.... before i passed. and i told her....let kylie the girl of my dreams know how much she means to me.so sad :( but cute :) its bitter sweet... but more bitter :l

as kylie ran off holden walked over to me and patted me on the back and gave me a man hug. a few tears rolled down my cheek, only because no one else was left at the school but holden, meg, and a few nerds and myself. "you had to buddy." holden said trying to comfort me. meg walked over to us..."wait. you just broke up with kylie?! why?" she asked, we were actually good friends now, thanks to kylie. i inhaled and started to talk without choking up, "meg, it not anything kylie did, its not the whole you didnt change, i changed deal. she changed me." i paused, "why did you break up with her then?' meg asked."he has cancer." holden answered for me. meg gasped in shock. my year book was crazy full, but i still reserved 2 pages for james. he said that he had alot to say..sadly, i was leaving right after school, but my mom had promised that i cant visit during spring and summer break. still i was gonna miss james so much!james walked over to me with a sad smile, yearbook in hand. he handed it to me and i gave him mine, he sat beside me with his hd holding my and began to write. when we finished he looked over at me, he had tears on his eyes. "what did the doctor say?" holden asked. it was super hot outside, it was mid may and kylie was going back to Charleston soon. i didnt get great new back from the doctor so i called holden and asked him if he wanted to hang out at my house. "its not good." i replied shaking, it frightened me.he put down his controller (we were playing black ops) and faced me, "what is it?""its back, the cancer and its spreading too. i have to go back for chemo late this month.""how are you going to tell kylie.""idk... i might not even at all. she's leaving later this week for charleston, its 8 hours away! ill just break up with her.... i CANT put her throught this...""james, you cant! she's like everything to you. you know your going to need her support while going through this.""which is why i have to do this..... before im gone, before she's gone.... please just support me.""before your gone?""their gnna try chemo... they say ive got a few months to live." i teared up. holden was too... this was so difficult, but breaking up with kylie was going to be harder, id do it after i sign her yearbook... and that not is going to be super meaningful. i cant tell her why, i just gotta do it and then she can go home. o gosh, why... why me?:(

while james was in the hospital i really started to bond with holden and meg. she wasn't as bad as james said she was. everyone was so happy upon james arrival. but i think i was the happiest. april was fun. i was on the girls soccer team so james camt to alot of my games. and then we would go to a froyo shop afterwards. holden and meg started dating soon so sometimes we would go on double dates. hard to believe right? but it was alot of fun.but... then came may.james looked like he was in pain alot, when i asked him what was up he changed subjects, he said it was probably nothing, but i was worried sick. there was something wron, but i couldnt tell what it was. but eventually i convinced him to go to the doctor. the results would shatter my heart and life, but i wouldnt find out till later...short chapter :)

i cant believe its march already! "ready james?" my mom yelled as i went down stairs. "ya... im nervous." "honey, its just surgery, you'll be asleep during the whole thing." we got to the hospital early and i sate in the waiting room. Kylie text me:*1 new message* Kylie<3: im prayingme: thx sweetie :) i need it!"james cooper?" a nurse asked."here." i stood up and hugged my mom and followed the nurse. soon i was wearing a hospital gown and was falling asleep.-:-:-:-:-:-:-"james honey?"i opened my eyes and looked around the room, mom and dad were there, so were gramps and grandmama, wheres kylie?!"mom, wheres kylie?""ohhh she was here for hours but had to go... she stayed as long as she could.""o.""how are you feeling?" the nurse asked."good" i was really tired so i fell asleep. i had to stay in the hospital for 3 weeks, to let the area and so they could make sure all the cancer was gone. Kylie visited every day always looking amazing. she always made the day alot brighter and wa very helpful. after 3 weeks i was back in school healthy as ever. soooo im back :) i didnt add commentary last time because i was using the old editor and i was messing up and i probably wont until i get to chapter 15, because ill be typing up alot.... so enjoy my loves! glad to be back

i sat in the doctors office. i had to get a new physical for soccer. "whats taking so long, mom?" i asked. we had been sitting the room for at least 45 minutes whe a nurse stuck her head in the door, "mr. cooper?"
"yes"
"we need you for a quick xray real quick."
i stepped out and did a quick xray and returned. i checked my phone:

kylie<3: wats takin so long?
Me: idk, takin xrays. not tellin
the nurse stuck her head back in the door, and then stepped in.
"uhm. we have some serious matters to discuss."
i stiffened up and looked at my mom, worried.
"what do you mean?" my mom asked.
"we found a mole thats suspicious, we want to have it removed as soon as possible."
i was speechless. no, this cannot be happening!
"w... whats this mean?" i asked.
"theres a cancerous area and we need to remove it before it spreads. its not life or death serious... right now... but it could be later."
"so whats this mean for sports?" i asked i stood up
"well you cant play sports until you get the area removed and it heals completley."
i sat down and sighed, i dont know how i was going to survive, let alone tell the team or kylie. after we left and set up the surgery date, i replied to my new message.

2nd block was mrs. prices class, but she was letting us have a study hall. i looked over at james who mouthed, "follow my lead." he raised his hand.
"yes mr. cooper?"
"i was wondering if kylie and i may go to the library to work on our science project."
"yes, that'd be fine. but you and miss faith will need a hall pass." we grabbed the pass and walked out.
"james! we are finished with that project!" i said.
"i know!" he grabbed my hand and led me to the stairs. we went up on the rood of dustin high.
"wow!" i exclaimed, you could see the beach perfectly, "remember our first date?" i asked. i looked over at james. he pulled out a radio and turned it on loud. "how was it?" he asked as he grabbed my hand.
"i didnt believe you liked me, like for real. so i kept questioning you." he grabbed my waist and i put my hands around his neck. "so you pulled me up and we danced."
"like we are now right?"
"how could you forget?"
"i didnt, i just like to hear you tell it."
"hum... you remember what happened next?"
"i do." he smiled and started to lean in.
"mr. cooper! miss faith!" i snapped out of it, one of the teachers stood at the roof entrance. i walked to him with my head down. James followed.
"get back to where your supposed be!"
i sighed with relief. good, just a warning.
"dont let that happen again!"
james grabbed my hand. "it wont."

i looked back at kylie and smiled. she was absolutely beautiful. she couldnt compare to any of the other girls i had dated. I knew this was going to, this had to, last~ we continued to slow dance under the stars. around 12 i took her home. "one more date Kylie?" i asked as we stupped up to the front door. "only if it will keep you from bothering me." she said with a wink, "night James." i kissed her on the forehead, "night beautiful."

2 weeks later, and we're still going strong. Kylie ran up behind me in the hallway and grabed my waist, "heyyyyyy!" she was gorgeous. straight blonde hair, bright blue v-neck, necklace, white jeans, and black converses (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=32062473) . She had finally gotten rid of her hoodie (after she "lost" it) "how are you?" i said, grabbing her handas we walked to first period. "great." she smiled, "got a ton of rest last night. I didnt have any homework." we walked past meg. she hasnt been to cool about any of this. especially the fact that kylie was on of the more loved girls in school now that she had become more sociable. even worse, i feel that meg was planing something, someting to break kylie and myselft apart. i was not going to let that happen.
"hey meg!" kylie smiled and waved as she spoke to her unkown enemy.
"oh hi kylie." she smiled and repliead sarcasticly.
"see you at lunch!"
"uh ya. looking forward to it!"
kylie was clueless, that or she was smart enough to know what was going on and act like she didnt know. wh... im going with option 1.
"ready sweetheart?" i said as we continued down the hall.
"mhm.... come on."
sooooo i thought id add some meg drama. sorry i havnt been able to post. im on my way to disney and i got a long trip in the car so ill be typing and writing pretty much the whole time. i already have chapter 6 and 7 written in my journal where ive been writing the rough drafts. im typing as fast as i can :D fave if you read and comment with feed back :D thanks

for something thats not gonna last... o was sure giving my look alot of time. i curled my hair and put on a cute sweatshirt-thingy, jean shorts, and black TOMS. my heart started to beat real fast at 7:55, why was i so nervous about going on a date with someone who completely annoys me.*DING DONG*oh gosh, i grabbed my purse and slowly went down the stairs. James looked great i must admit, i met him at the door, "ready?" i asked calmly, he escorted me to the car. he opened the door and i got it. "where we going?" i asked."its a surprise." he said as her turned the radio on and rolled down the windows. soon we were at the beach, he grabbed a basket out of the trunk of his truck and took me out to the beach. He set up a picnic with flowers, candles and take out Chinese (my favorite) and had a radio on low. We ate in pretty much all silence, just listening to the waves, and music coming from the radio. "yup but dude.... i have no clue what to do. and get this, she's a blonde!"

i heard someone clear their throat, it was meg.
"whose kylie?"
"butt out meg!" i said,
"what butt?" holden whispered and i burst out in laughter.

as soon as that bell rang i ran straight out of the classroom so i could hurry and burry my face in my locker. i wanted to go home! and i would.... one semester from now. i felt a tap on my shoulder and took a glance to the side. it was james cooper, the school player. i turned my face into my locker. oh what did i do to deserve this torture."uh, kylie right?" he asked, i pretended i didnt hear him and started to walk to lunch.
"kylie?" he asked, i kept walking, and he followed me.
"kylie?!" he pulled my hood of my jaket off my head, revealing my bright blonde hair. there was a pause.
"Kylie! Stop!" and when i kept walking he pulled my jacket off completely. i turned around standing in the hallway in jean shorts, a bright pink tank, and black converses. ya pretty cute i thought, "what do you want?!" i asked as i pulled my jacket back. he took something... and i cant remember what it was.

"class, as we begin this final semester together, id like you to write down your goals on a sheet of paper and pass them forward." i ripped out a sheet of note book paper and wrote down three things:
1) strong B's for the semester
2) win state w/ basketball and soccer
3) personal
only because i couldnt think of anything else. i passed it forward to my friend holder. "ooooo personal. whats that supposed to mean?" he whispered back at me. "shut up! ill tell you after mrs. prince shuts up."
a few moments later i felt something hit my leg... a note from meg, my ex who i dumped last summer.
meg: any of those goals involved me james? :)
me: you wish meg, rnt you and kyle a thing?
meg: ya... but id take you over him any day
"mr. cooper?" mrs prince asked, my head shot up quickly.
"yes, mrs. prince?"
"im assuming those are notes you are taking on my lecture?"
"yes mam." i sunk into my chair and put the note up
"good, because if you were passing notes, that would mean detention."
"yes mam."
soon enough it was time for lunch.
"so whats that goal of yours??" holden asked as we headed to our lockers.
