Want to know why the fourth finger is the wedding ring finger? This is a Chinese myth.
Put your hands together. Like youre high fiving yourself, and hold it there.
Tuck both of your middle fingers in between your palms so that the back of each finger is touching each other.
Your thumbs, fingers, ring fingers and pinkys should be together.
Your thumbs represent your parents.
Your pointer finger represents your siblings.
Your Middle finger represents yourself, which is why its tucked between your palms.
And your pinkys represent your (future) children.
Now open your thumbs. They can seperate because our parents will one day leave us, and we will go be on our own to live out our own destinys.
Bring your thumbs back together. And seperate your pointer fingers. They can be apart because like you, your siblings will leave and follow their own path.
Close your pointer fingers together again. Skip your ring fingers and go to your pinkys, these represent your children, they may open because your children will grow up and they will leave you as well, because they too have a life to live on their own.
Now close your pinkys and try to seperate your ring fingers...
You cant right?
This represents your husband/wife. No matter how much you try you cannot part your ring fingers and when you try to, it even hurts, when you try to seperate yourself from the person you love youre only hurting yourself..
These fingers do not seperate because your love for your husband/wife will never leave you. You will forever be attached to that person. Thus why they say, "Till death do you part."
