    Killing The Queen.
    Chapter Three.
After the strange phone call, I texted Gage. I didn't tell him anything, I just texted him to distract myself. What did it mean? I wasn't being literal. It scared me. I just wasn't sure what was going to happen. I had a few theories on what it meant, but I later found out I was nowhere near correct.
Tuesday morning, I didn't have much time to get ready. I had forgotten to turn my alarm on and I woke up 20 minutes late. I did my makeup really quickly, brushed my teeth, and fixed my hair into a high ponytail. I had no idea what I was going to wear. I opened my closet and just decided to wear some sh kinny jeans and my black and white top from pacsun. I slipped on my vans and headed downstairs. I didn't have much time to eat breakfast, so I skipped it. I grabbed a bottle of water, slipped on my backpack, and walked out right as Gage pulled into the driveway. I silently got into the car. It was going to be a weird day, I could tell.
"Good morning, beautiful. You look gorgeous as always." I smiled and took Gage's free hand. We sat quietly for a while just listening to the radio. "What's up, Jade?" He turned the music down. I looked at him. "Huh?" Did he know something? "Well, you're just really quiet today. You're usually really talkative around me. Are you okay?" I swallowed hard. I hated lying to him.
"Fine, baby. I'm just a little tired is all." He smiled and turned the music back up.
Once we got to school, I didn't want to get out of the car. I didn't want to go to school. I didn't want to see Marissa and feel the way I do every time I see her: jealous. I didn't want to feel inferior, or insecure, I didn't want to feel not good enough just because she was prettier than me. I hoped no one had noticed that she was better than me, but I know I had noticed. She was prettier, thinner, nicer, and probably funnier, and more fun to be around, and just better than me in every way possible. I, for the first time, envied someone. But I couldn't show it. They smell fear.
They noticed. Everyone was crowded around her today when I walked in. They were all around her locker. She was in the center, looking perfect. She giggled and tossed her hair back. And there, right next to her, was my best friend, Kaylee. Laughing right with her. But Kaylee didn't notice me. I furiously walked off when I heard "Exuse me" come from someone with a tiny, girly voice. I turned around. It was Marissa. She had noticed me even if Kaylee hadn't. "Hi, I'm Marissa! I saw you in the mall the other day, and I wanted to talk to you, you seem so nice, and being the new girl, I don't have many friends. Ha, the people crowded around you would agree, right? "Well, hi, I'm Jade." I smiled. I wanted to rip her head off. She smiled back at me. Gosh, she was perfect. I could see her collar bones peek out perfectly. Sure I was the prettiest girl in school, or was, but I was not the thinnest girl. At all. I wish I was as thin as her. No, stop, Jade, they smell fear. "Well, I think you're in my first class aren't you? I kind of forgot where it is. Would you mind walking me there?" yes. "No, not at all!" I mean, I had to be the nicest if she was the prettiest, didn't I? "But class doesn't start for another 20 minutes. I'll meet you at the coffee cart in about 15 minutes, okay?" She smiled. "Okay!" And with that, he was gone. I watched her walk away. Her shoulder blades perfectly sticking out like her collar bones. I wanted that. I walked away. I had to go fine my girls.
"There you are!" I heard behind me. I turned around. It was Chelsea, Taylor, and Madyson. My girls. "Oh hey, girls!" I hugged them all. "Where's Kaylee?" Taylor asked. Kaylee and Taylor were twins, just like me and Katie. That's how we met. At a twin pageant. When we were 4. 11 years later, and all of us were inseperable. "I'm not sure. But I'm mad at her." Everyone blinked at the same time. "Why?" Chelsea asked. "Long story. Come on girls, let's go to the coffee cart. I want to get my coffee before I have to walk Marissa to class." They all agreed without questioning me on Marissa. They knew when I didn't want questions. We headed over to the coffee cart to get our coffee, and Marissa was already there. Talking to Kaylee. Laughing with her. I could see the way Kaylee looked at her, like she was the queen. Was the the queen? No, I wouldn't let her take my crown. I got my coffee and walked away with the girls. This time, Kaylee ran after us to catch up. "Hey Jade!" She said. "Hi." I walked faster. I walked straight into the bathroom and just sat there. What was I going to do? I wouldn't let her become what I was. She is NOT going to overpower me. I would die before that. Or she would.
