Hope Was Here
Five
I couldn't stand to be in the house any longer, so even though it was nearing 10 at night,
I pulled on my black hoodie and my addidas and tiptoed down stairs.
I dialed Alecs number, and almost hung up until his groggy voice
whispered into my ear, "Yo." He sounded extremely tired.
"I'm sorry, I don't know why I called you, to be exact.." I trailed off and there was an awkward silence. "Well you must have needed something."
I bit my lip, "Yeah actually." My voice cracked.
I could hear him sitting up and his voice was calm and clear then,
"What is it, what do you need? Eva?"
Worried. I'd known this boy for 3 days and he was worried about me.
"You."
"I'll be there in 6 minutes." And he was.
I was sitting on the stone wall far out of sight from my house, kicking my feet gently.
His footsteps were light and I could only tell it was him by the way he held himself when he walked. I ran up to him and wrapped my arms around him, "Alec." I said, he hugged me back. "What can I do?" He whispered. I pulled him over to the rock wall and we sat together, his arm around my shoulder, my head against his chest.
I told him about the package.
"That's so f**ked up. And you don't know who it is?"
I gulped, "No."
He took my word for it and tilted his face up to the sky. "I'm sorry for calling you out here."
"I'm not. I love seeing your face. I'm sorry for getting mad about Blake."
I shrugged, "No worries." "
And I'm sorry about one more thing.." he said.
I looked up and he tilted my chin with his fingers and connected our lips.
We kissed for a moment and then he pulled away, "For not doing that earlier."
I blushed like crazy and blinked like I was stupid, but then I reached up and kissed him again. He pulled away again and stifled a yawn, we'd been out here for nearly an hour now.
"Get some sleep, sorry for waking you." He nodded, "Don't hesitate to call. Please."
I smiled and he walked me up the path to my house where he promptly kissed me once more, "See you tomorrow? Bright and early for school right?" I stuck my tounge out and he poked my nose, "I'll take it as a yes. See ya." He waved and walked off. I'd nearly forgotten about school! I can't believe I stayed up this late on the last night of summer.
I fell into bed and was asleep before I could notice that I wasn't alone in my room.
