Your just being helpful, it doesn't offend me. In fact, My Mum is actually a physiatrist, she did worry I might get it. I tried the uncovering thing for around a week, I just couldn't do it. That was a few months ago, it has only gotten worse.

Maybe just start to start having a small amount of time uncovered alone so you're not too much exposed, only a tiny amount of time, maybe 10 seconds. Do that for a few days/weeks (or whatever you're comfortable) then start increasing the time gradually. And maybe drawing positive things on it to show that your wrist is nothing bad xx

You might have a form of OCD that was brought out by your friends self harming. This link explains OCD and gives a few suggestions of how to help. http://www.helpguide.org/mental/obsessive_compulsive_disorder_ocd.htm
I have OCD and I have to repeat certain behaviors like touching something a certain amount of times. I hope this helps and that this doesn't offend you. Good luck
