Firefly
Chapter
3
I sipped my coffee as I looked around the familiar shop. This was
where Danny and I went every weekend during our senior year in
high school. Now that it was over, we had almost no time for each
other.
I noticed a boy from behind the counter who looked to be my age
staring in my direction. I couldn’t see him very well, but
from what I saw of him, he was very attractive.
“Hey gurl hey!” I heard Danny’s voice call as
he flamboyantly pushed his way into the shop.
I smiled at him, not moving from my chair. “Hi,
Danny.”
He pulled out the seat across from me. “So, what’s
up?”
“Nothing,” I sighed, leaning forward onto the
table.
“Enjoying the summer? Oh my god. I cannot believe we
aren’t in high school anymore. Woo! College
kids!”
I grinned at him. “I know.”
“But gurl,” he told me, taking my hands, “We
are def seeing each other over the vacay. I don’t wanna
separate and not talk anymore because that would be a bad
situation.”
“Love you too,” I laughed, breaking the touch between
our fingers.
“Can I get you something?” a voice asked from behind
me, and I spun to face the green eyes of the boy who was behind
the counter.
“No, thank you,” Danny responded.
“Okay.” He nodded at us. “Let me know.”
He grinned at me while he went back to the cash register.
“Guurl,” Dylan murmured, leaning over to me,
“He is fine.”
I bit my lip. “I know.”
“And he was checkin’ you out! Go get
‘im, Mama.”
“No!” I laughed. “He’s probably not
interested anyways.”
Dylan rolled his eyes. “Okay, well look, I actually was
gunna go look at apartments with the BF, so I’ll hit you up
lata,” he told me, waving his fingers at me as he stood up
and started walking to the door.
“Bye, Danny,” I laughed.
“Bye, gowgeous.”
I sighed and began collecting my things. I looked up to catch the
cashier staring at me again. I titled my head at him. “Can
I help you?” I asked, grinning.
“Sorry, you’re just really pretty,” he told me
casually. I smiled at him. “I’m Caleb,” he
introduced.
“Elizabeth,” I told him, “But people call me
Lizzie.”
“Was that your boyfriend?” he asked.
I creased my brow. “You really think Danny likes
girls?” I asked.
He giggled. “No. I just didn’t want to
assume.”
I laughed at him. “No. I’m not his
girlfriend.”
“Then whose girlfriend are you?”
I felt a small smile break out on my face. “No
one’s.”
“Then can I maybe take you out later tonight? For
dinner?”
I grinned. I didn’t have work, or anything else to
do.
Shoutout to my best friend
Elizabeth, aka, thesweetestmoments. Just cause. I love you.
She's an obnoxious liar who has no life and she's also
the best writer on Witty so I'm super jealous and I hate her
but that's okay I love her anyways. ~
