That's because the gene for color blindness is on the X chromosome, and it is recessive, so women have to have the gene on both X chromosomes in order to be color blind, and men only have one X chromosome so they only need to have it on one chromosome. If a woman is colorblind, all of her sons will be and if both parents are colorblind, all of their kids would be. If the mother has the gene on one X chromosome, there is a fifty-fifty chance her sons will be colorblind. 0reply
