She does it when she’s hurting,
When she doesn’t care.
She does it ’cause she needs to,
When life isn’t fair.
She does it ’cause she’s tired,
And tired of trying.
She does it when she’s beat down,
And when she’s left crying.
She does it when she can’t control,
When she feels confused,
And sometimes it controls her
And then she feels used.
She does it to herself,
So when you do it won’t matter.
She does it to herself,
To watch all hope shatter.
She does it when she’s lonely,
When there’s no one there.
She does it for herself,
But sometimes to see if you care.
She does it ’cause she’s empty,
Filled only with self-hate.
She does it ’cause she’s not good enough,
And won’t let you decide her fate.
She does it with a promise,
That this time is the last.
She does it when she can’t bare,
Her pain from the past.
She does it when she forgets,
That she’s been set free.
She does it when she’s blind,
For sin can not see.
She regrets it each time,
And hurts even more.
She builds up her burden,
Then hurts to the core.
Se cries out to Jesus,
Though she knows she’s a let down.
But He calls her His child,
His love replacing every cut; every frown.
