My Winter Bucket
List
The Bucket List series
Chapter 18
I dump
all of my presents on the floor of my room, not bothering to
put them anywhere in particular. By this time it's eleven
AM, so I pull on some skinny jeans and a long grey jumper over
a white vest top. The present I bought Dorian is on the
dresser, and the plastic bag's in the bin.
"Merry Christmas?" I hear behind me. The voice sounds
distant, and when I turn around I realise it's because
Dorian's speaking through the closed window. I smile when I
see him and open the window.
"How long have you been sitting up there?" I ask.
"For about five seconds, now let me in, it's cold out
here," he says. I smile as I move away from the window. He
climbs through the window, being careful not to slip on the
window sil, and making sure he doesn't use his right hand
too much. I close the window once he's through before he
embraces me in a hug. His body's cold and it makes me
shiver slightly. "Sorry Rainbow," he says. "But
it's cold outside and you're all warm." I nod and
hug him a bit tighter for a few seconds. "Now," he
starts. "Want your gift?" He asks. I smile up at him,
nodding.
We let go of eachother and he opens his backpack. He pulls out
two small packages. I sit on the bed as he passes them to me
and I open the smallest one first. He sits next to me,
watching. I look at the present and smile. Inside the layers of
paper is a small pack of three different-coloured lip rings. I
smile at him and laugh slightly.
"Thought you'd like it," he says. "Now open
the other. I'm proud of what I got you - go open." I
nod and do what he says. Inside the other present is a small
blue photo frame - about the size of my hand. The picture is of
two people - one a blue-haired guy and the other a multi-colour
haired girl - laughing with a largish dog sit across their
laps. I know that's Dorian and I. It was taken back in that
month or so we were dating. The dog's called Nathan. I
think I remember that photo - when it was taken.
"Jason took this," I say quietly, smiling. Dorian
wraps an arm around my shoulders.
"Yeah," he says, agreeing. I trace my thumb over the
picture before looking up at Dorian. I smile and press my lips
against his. I feel him smile as we kiss, his arm lower down to
my waist, and his arms envolope me. I then wrap my hands around
his neck. He pushes himself slightly into my and when I open my
eyes, he's pulled away slightly, staring at me. After a few
breaths, he looks down smiling shyly.
"I don't really want to give you your present
now," I tell him.
"Why?" He asks, looking back at me.
"Because mine's worth nothing compared to yours,"
I say. He shrugs and says it'll be good anyway. So I get
up, take the present from the dresser and give it to him.
"God, you wrap up presents neatly, don't you?" He
asks, smiling. I nod, knowing it's true. He unwraps it and
grins at me when he sees the CD cover. "I thought this
might be it," he says, grinning.
"I kinda gave it away - didn't I? By texting you to
see if you wanted or had it?" I say, smiling. He looks up
at me, and pulls me down onto his lap.
"It's great - thank you," he says. I smile at
him."
"Merry Christmas," I tell him.
"Merry Christmas, Rainbow," he says. We're just
about to have our lips meet when a voice from behind us stops
us.
"Merry Christmas Dorian!"
I really, honestly feel like I have literally no one reading
anymore. I have the same great readers - who I love, but I
don't seem to get comments anymore, whether it's notes
to help me, or just to ask for a reminder. I'm sorta happy
the story's ending - so I can start something different -
though I'm not sure what. So, comment for a reminder, and
thank you for reading.
