Angel:
A child abuse story.
Chapter 2
Jake and
I are assigned to mix two chemical compounds. I take out a beaker
and measure the pouder in a labeled beaker. Jake pours in the
liquid.
The mixture turns an odd bright green color. Out of no where it
starts bubbling up. It's fizzing largely. "How much
did you put in there?" There's panic in his his
voice. The beaker starts to bubble and fizz largely.
"Two table spoons." I squeak.
"You were only supposed to put in one tablespoon!" He
shouts as the chemicals overflow onto the table and floor.
"What did you do?" My teacher demands, but then, our
mixture explodes everywhere. My jaw drops, and I realize that this
is my fault. Mr. Kewer explodes like our project. "Get this
cleaned up right now! Then go clean yourselves up so that I can
call your parents!"
"Nice going, Amber." Jake says, as he rips his goggles
off and walks out of the room. I run after him, only able to hold
in the tears until I'm out of the classroom. Then my back
slides down the wall, and I sob madly.
"I hate my life!" I whisper. And I probably would've
actually killed myself a long time ago if it weren't for Joy.
I'm the only protection she has from our horrible
father.
"Amber," Jake says,
"I'm sorry."
