Life Goes On

Chapter 2

     Chapter 2; Crazy room.

The elevator stopped on eight and I exited with Jennifer. “Let’s get you settled in. My daughter Amber is right next door to you.” The hallway was huge with about five rooms on each side, and a long window at one end. On the other end was a circular room with windows at every edge with girly things: bean bags, couches, and a large 100 inch flat screen TV. My mouth dropped when I noticed a bathroom off the windowed room. It was huge, with a Jacuzzi tub on one end, a shower on the other, and two doors which held two toilets in each one. Inside of those doors also was a sink. I was in awe.

Jennifer patted my shoulder and said, “Your room’s over here, Alyssa.” She put her arm around my back and guided me to the door closest to the windowed room. On the door, a sign read “Alyssa” in fancy lettering. It was a clear door, as were all the other doors in this hall. I hadn’t checked out any other rooms yet, though they seemed cool. I noticed how large the room was.  There was a 72 inch flat screen TV on one wall and a large king sized bed on the other, across from the TV. Pink and purple couches lined the walls as well as a chair hanging from the ceiling with a cushion and pillows. Bean bags were strewn across the room and an iMac desktop was on another wall. An iHome was on a glass coffee table in the middle of an area to chill out, as well as a Macbook Air. Pink and purple walls completed the girly room, as well as white ceiling decorations hanging down.
I twisted the knob and walked in with my mouth hanging. "Oh...my...gosh..." Eyes wide, I felt my heart race as I walked to the bed. A white iPhone lay there. "That's... Me? Belongs to me!?" I gasped. Jennifer nodded and handed me the TV remote.
"You also have a walk in closet with a full fall wardrobe for school. We'll give it away in the winter and buy you a winter one. Then spring and summer go together. I'll bring up your old stuff. There's some shelves over there to display your belongings, and if you'd like to keep clothes, you can put them in your closet. Meanwhile, go meet Amber and she'll show you around the rest of the house. Her room's across from yours. Ta-ta!" Jennifer left my room. I noticed a white chandelier hanging from the middle of the ceiling, just over the foot of the bed.
I picked up my old junky phone and added all my old contacts in from the town over. I couldn't believe it. The house was ridiculous. I texted my best friend Kayla first. "dude, you know how i had to move the next town over because of my mom? oh yeah, this is alyssa btw. i got an iphone, too." It took about two seconds to get the response because she has an iPhone as well.
"Yeah, what about it? Are you ok? Is it a rathole? Want to spend the night here?" she replied.
"no exact opposite. its ridiculous! come over tm, ill show you. i have to go meet amber now. haha its so cool. eleven floors, elevator and everything." I typed mega fast.
"Dude, do you mean Amber Wells?" she answered quickly.
"yea haha why?" I sat down on the bed. Oh my, it was comfy.
"They're rich, man! Their dad use to own a TV business. They have like 90 billion dollars. I'll be there tomorrow. And have you met their son, Jacob? Super hot!" she was excited.
"ik theyre rich, i have so much stuff. youll see. ok im gonna go meet amber. shes showing me around." I answered, silencing the phone and standing up. I headed for the door, just as I saw a brunette girl knocking on mine.
Unlocking the door, I welcomed her. "Hey, you must be Amber." I smiled, welcoming her into the room.
"Yeah, you're Alyssa, right? Can't wait to have a girl around the house who's my age. We'll be going to the same school as East River, where you used to live. They shut down the school in our district, so we have to go there. I'll be fifteen in two months, in October. I heard you turned fifteen last week, so we'll be in tenth grade together." My, Amber loved to talk.
I simply smiled, because she seemed really nice. "Can you show me around this place? I'll get lost in the blink of an eye." I wondered, laughing.
She giggled and said, "Yeah, follow me." I followed after her real quickly.
"Oh, I was wondering, would your mom care if I had a friend over tomorrow? My best friend, I think you'll like her. She won't do any damage to this place." I asked.
"Not a problem. Okay, so this is one of my favorite rooms just through here." She opened the door to one of the rooms on our floor, and I gasped in amazement.
