Chapter Seven
"What's that look for?" I ask
Lilly.
"I," She pauses. "I
don't think I like him like I thought." She looks at
him, he's with another guy, which is his younger brother, and
their dog that Lilly told me about.
"What? Why not all of a sudden?" I look to her with an
eyebrow raised.
"I'm not good with relationships." She tries to
lighten the conversation. "I'll just ruin it
agian."
"Oh come on, he likes you. It was obvious. Just give it a
chance." I get up. "Wanna go get some frozen
yogurt?" Lilly looks at me with a burst of excitment in her
eyes.
"At Meg's Fro-yo?" She says, getting up from her
swing. I nod, and we walk out past the gate. Meg's Fro-Yo is
across the park, past security. My aunt, Meg, runs it. It's
the best frozen yogurt in the state. We sit down at a table,
waiting to see my aunt.
"Hey girls! Two vanillas?" She finds us and asks. We
both nod in unison, and she writes it on a small pink paper. Once
she gives it to a waiter, she pulls a chair over to
us."It's great to see you two again, Riley hasn't
been in here since you left."
"Well, it's our tradition, we can't go in here
without one-another of course."
"Oh, I see." Meg laughs. "Hey, Ri, look who's
here?" She stands up, to get our yogurt. I look out the
window. Great. Austin's here. My aunt hands us our yogurt,
and I try to act like I don't notice Austin come in. It's
weird, even though he's been with me through everything, I
just can't seem to let people get close to me.
"Meg, you know I'm not dating him right?" I
whisper. Meg's eyes pop, I just don't feel comfortable
talking about that night.
"Oh, well duty calls girls, enjoy." She greets Austin,
and a few other customers. I can see Austin coming over from the
corner of my eye, but he stops. A skinny brunette girl stands
up.She puts her hands all over him. Don't be mad, you
broke up with him, I remind myself.
"Uh, excuse me." He takes her hands off of him, and
comes over to our table. "Hey."
"Hi," I look towards him. All of his features pop out
today. His light brown hair swoops just below his eyebrows,
barely covering his blue-gray eyes. "What are you doing
here?"
"It's Sunday, I work here." He reminds me.
"Oh yeah." I laugh to myself.
"Don't forget, I'm bringing you to the lake
tomorrow, alright?"
"What time are you picking me up?" I ask him.
"Um, how about six?"
"Alright." I can't help but get butterflies.Maybe
Lilly is right. Maybe I can give love another
chance.

Ha, I know I didn't get ten faves,
but I wanted to write so bad! But I'm still asking for
